Respect to Wenger. He did a remarkable job with the budget he had to work with, on top of selling our best players yet still make top 4 each season. Fans forget that before we failed to qualify for CL, Wenger led Arsenal to 18 consecutive CL appearances. Only Real Madrid at the time, had more. In his first 8 years he won 7 trophies, incuding 2 doubles and the invincible run. Arteta arrived in Dec 2019 which was an interesting time. KSE had acquired 100% shares of AFC, but the worldwide covid pandemic struck and teams across Europe only wanted to offer or take on loan deals. Although Wenger layed the foundations and built the stadium, Arteta couldn't instantly turn on the lights. His ability to build and develop his own team took a long delay. It wasn't until his 2nd summer transfer window, that he could start assembling his core group of players. Partey and Gabriel arrived in 2020, Odegaard/White/Tomiyasu/Ramsdale (tried to buy Raya first) arrived in 2021. In his first season, he had to acquire guys like Mari, Soares, Willian Runarsson as the selection pool in transfer market was thin. We simply needed numbers to fill in the void. Guys like Tavares and Lokonga were cheap/low risk purchases that didn't work out but we're more than likely going to come close to acquiring the amount spent on them this summer. It took Arteta 2 years to be able to really get the ball rolling, but by Dec 2022, we were starting to see the true potential in the team he assembled. Sometimes I wonder what Wenger could have done with the amount Arteta was given in the past 4.5 years. Wenger won 57.98% of his matches with Arsenal, SAF boasted a 59.67% with Utd but he had a lot more money at his disposal than Wenger. I remember years ago, from about 2010-12, Wenger had a win record of over 62%. His win % gradually declined as Chelsea, Man City, Utd, Liverpool all started spending ridiculous amounts on players so we were left behind. Let's not forget Wenger still has the best defensive record in Arsenal's history with only 17 goals conceded in the 1998/99 season. It blows my mind how this season we have the best defensive record and still conceded 28 goals with 3 games left. We were also the first team in the EPL to score in every match in 2001/02. Arteta is destined to be a great manager, maybe even surpass Wenger in numbers, given the current financial circumstances, but Arsene was a special manager that maybe comes once every 100yrs for a club. And it's always a sweet victory beating the spuds but that Raya mistake keeps replaying in my head... We almost (and should have) made it look soooo easy, AGAIN, with a clean sheet away from home. I just hope it doesn't have an impact on our defense in these last 3 games! 🙏🙌

I think my greatest area of optimism regarding Arsenal is that if we refer to the process, we are literally slap bang on schedule. What many may not realize is a business plan despite having schedules and projections for where they see the company developing are not surety's or guarantees they are purely predictions for what, where and when they would like to see your business. At Arsenal, the initial plan was 5 years, but frankly, that's bullshit typically a complete rebuild requires 5-10 years from a business perspective. Arsenal needed a top-down organizational transformation something Manchester United will soon have to confront. So when I look at Mikel Arteta, I am genuinely amazed. This guy took a macro issue and broke it down into micro steps. Which I know people will mock as common sense but seriously this is shit is really hard. So win or lose this year I'm not too fussed because the process is full steam ahead. Anyone who says I can win the Premiership in X time frame is lying. You can position your team give yourself every opportunity but ultimately it's out of your control. Arsenal are better than last year and waaaaay better than year one or two. That as fans us all we can ask for......❤😂
