I thought it was hilarious. I think Howard and Robin were in a very difficult situation with Artie. Howard, as the leader, did ask Artie if he wanted to get help. Also, Howard is naive in the ways of that world. You know Howard, if Artie shows up for work, he is cool with everything. Shoot, he encouraged him to sleep at work. I must admit though I felt the same way as you but both of Howard and Robin just laid it on Artie because thar was the show and Artie was paid well. One thing that really pissed me off was anytime Artie admitted to screwing up Robin with the I KNEW IT I KNEW IT!!. She cared more about being right than Arties health.
