This month we highlight the P51-D Mustang. Powered by a Packard Merlin V1650-7 engine and flying at 440 miles per hour, the mustang gave the U.S. Army Air Force the air superiority to counter the German ME 1091’s and FW 190’s during World War Two. The role of the Mustang was to defend the air bombers B24’s and B17’s from air strikes by the enemy. The Tuskegee Airmen bravely and efficiently took upon this job.
