The ball turret was in a fixed mounting location on the B-17 but would retract up into the B-24 since the fuselage was closer to the ground than it was on the B-17.

Old soldiers never die. They just fade away. Over half century, he has kept his bravery as secret for his nation. It's time for us to remember him forever... Especially when Russian started to invade another innocent nation again! Let him receive the Medal of Honor while the hero is still alive so the future generations from land of bravery will never forgot his courage.

A nice show of respect. I vividly remember the day this happened. It must have been difficult to work knowing you had lost co-workers. Each year, I take a moment to remember this day. I also remember Sept 25 each year. Another terrible date in aviation history.

Okay then it seems beyond stupid to EVER mention one brother over the other for first actual controlled flight of an airplane manned by a human....Duhh it was a totally JOINT project where with equal enthusiam they took turns piloting the thing....I just think it is a total sin to give one of em more credit even for one second!

Nice to see Bill Anders is still in doing good nowadays! I have the feeling some people don’t fully realize what this man accomplished with frank Borman and Jim Lovell back in 1968. I was born in the late 90’s and I still find Apollo 8 the greatest space mission ever accomplished. Godspeed Mr. Anders and thank you for being an inspiration to many generations!

I remember meeting these gentlemen at NAR LA Div around ‘72. Gerry Griffin just in the last few years at the museum dinners. Great men. Best days of my life working there. Missed seeing them in person at this years banquet. My regards to them all!

Not to take away from the brothers, but considering the focus of this video is the engine, it might be nice to give credit to the person that had the majority of the influence in its design, as well as building it. Charles Taylor.

Thank you for the media outreach... SLS is a good rocket... people don't realize it's only 8% of NASAs budget... not bad for a Saturn V replacement... it's going to get us back to the moon and it can be useful still after that for supporting Starship to colonize Mars... there are some odd jobs like transporting nuclear reactors and deploying some types of infrastructure that SLS would be better for...

Yeah 8% of Nasa Budget. You want to know how much of NASAs budget Starship uses, ZERO. The fact that Starship has done more with far less money in a shorter time. Plus Starship is resealable while SLS is not. SLS is an over budget failure that will likely see very few launches. Lets see their crew ships failed and they still have not launched humans in to space yet SpaceX has done it twice. I wonder who is going to launch the next people, Let me guess SpaceX. I doubt that Boeing and their crew ships will see a launch in the next year or 2.

I'm giving 5 to 1 that there is a huge fireball during the hot test. They need to scrap this POS cost overrun and give the money to SpaceX and Blue Origin, organizations that know how to build rockets and get things done.

Thanks, this was fascinating and the plans should be filed away but we need intelligent thought and bipartisan agreement on NASA's long term plans not something pulled out of President Trump's you know what. NASA had barely programmed some kind of lunar landing mission for 2028 or later so the newer 2024 motivation was to simply benefit a possible Trump second term. An audit released in April by the GAO found that the costs of NASA’s major projects continue to go over by about 30 percent each year. Also revealed was a concern liquid hydrogen may leak from the core stage of the S.L.S. rocket. The current administration does not have the leadership to manage something this complex.
