In this video I will take you through the assembly / setup and my experience with the Artillery Genius Pro printer as I have now owned it for several months. I was given this printer for review by Artillery so please go check them out if you decide that this printer is something you would be interested in:
► artillery3d.com/products/arti...
This printer has a fairly common build volume at 220mm x 220mm x 250mm and features a 32 bit main board with silent stepper drivers for quiet operation.
This printer has a lot of nice features and it looks like the Artillery team put a lot of attention to detail into it. The prints that come off this machine are dimensionally accurate and very visually appealing. Some of the machine's best features are:
► All metal hotend with direct drive extruder
► Excellent wire management
► Dual Z lead screws with sync belt
► Auto bed leveling sensor
► AC powered print bed
I grew very fond of this printer and I could really only find two minor things that I would like to see Artillery work on.
► Filament runout detector position
► Touchscreen appearance and layout
Overall, I think this printer is an excellent choice within it's price range vs. other brands. It was exceptionally reliable for me and required little to no "tuning." Default print profiles included in PrusaSlicer's wizard for this printer work great making the slicing extremely easy.
Does it live up to the name, "Genius Pro?" ... well, I think it would be more suitable to call it "Reliable Pro." You get a lot of features and they all work as intended. But calling it a "Genius" would indicate to me that it is doing something particularly innovative that other printers are not. Although I absolutely love this machine, I can't say that this printer somehow turns the 3D printing world upside down. It is just a very well executed printer, which is, in itself, enough reason to buy one.
I did not cover any modifications to the printer in this video as I wanted to review it in its natural form. Also... I couldn't really find anything worth changing at this point which is very unusual for me!

I have purchased three of the artillery printers. The last one is the pro version that has the auto bed leveling. It has been quite reliable over all. I have had some problems the took some time to correct. I purchased removable magnetic print bed for two of the printers so I would not have to wait for the bed to cool down. I highly recommend the removable print bed. For the price pretty good printers. Thanks for the review.

I'm having huge problems with Z banding on my Genius Pro and have tried all sorts of fixes to no avail. The banding seems height related as the bands shift inward or outward on all sides at the same time, not like a x or y movement. If if were a gantry or bed position issue, I'd expect the print to shift left/right or bad/forward, not shrink or grow. It's like the lines laid down are fatter or thinner. Tried various fixes and cleanups of the extruder and am really happy with it now, but the problem persists. Some original reviews of the printer complained of the same issues with no relevant solution offered. Tempted now to replace the vertical rods with belts.

Nice to take all this time to do a long term review like this. I'm trying to decide if I will buy this or the Ender 3 S1 as my first 3d printer, any advice?

Hmm.. It depends on what you need. I personally have a Sidewinder X1 and it has a great print volume

I just had to make the same decision for a print farm that I am growing.. ultimately I went with the S1 for the purpose of community support. Out of the box I think the artillery is probably a better printer overall but eventually when you want to do upgrades / custom firmwares / repairs etc Creality is more popular and there is more stuff available. The other small advantage the S1 has is that it already has the magnet in place for the flex plate (which you should definitely upgrade to PEI). On the genius pro you would have to stick the magnet to the glass because I don't know how easy/difficult it would be to separate the glass from the pad underneath. All that being said, if you don't plan on doing upgrades and just want to run the printer as is the genius pro is a solid choice and I believe they run even better deals than Creality at certain times of the year.

How did you add a start code for ABL in prusa slicer? Also, if the glass isn't removable, could I not glue the flex plate on top of it?
@EmbraceMaking
@EmbraceMaking Жыл бұрын
Are you looking to run the ABL at the beginning of every print? And yes, you can stick the magnetic sheet right on the glass if you want to add a flex plate.

@@EmbraceMaking Yes, I'd like that. I have couple of other printers set up the same way and it seems to work great for me. Now I'm waiting for my Genius Pro to arrive and I'd like to do the same.

Great video! This is the first printer I ever bought and I had some troubles with leveling the bed, it was so easy to understand what to do with your video! thanks for that! ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽 I do have a quick question about adjusting the Z axis while printing- I tried to do that but nothing changed during the print- should I pause the printing for doing that? or should it change while printing?
@EmbraceMaking
@EmbraceMaking Жыл бұрын
Hi Eliya! You shouldn't need to pause the print, it is a live adjustment so it happens in real time. You should only do it when the printer is printing first layer and you may have to tap the button several times in either direction to notice a difference. If I remember correctly it shows increments of 0.025mm which is very fine adjustment. Four presses in one direction is roughly the thickness of a piece of paper so maybe give it a try again?

@@EmbraceMaking Thanks for the response! 🪄 I did give it another try and kept on adjusting the bed and managed to print my first print ever- a slug that came out really nice and most of it moves! 🤣 Thank youuu again for the video! It helped a lot! 🧡

Did you have any luck with adjusting the wheels on the z axis?
@EmbraceMaking
@EmbraceMaking Жыл бұрын
Does not appear that you can adjust them from I can see... however, my printer is still going strong on a regular basis and it does not seem to effect the print quality. Out of the box this printer arguably prints better than the similarly featured ender 3 S1

We use 220V here will this have an effect on the build plate because I see your build plate had a 110V sticker on it. And I purchased one with the same sticker

Might want to try and contact Artillery and ask to be sure. I don't want to give bad advice in this regard.

Do you think this is worth it for €330 or wait and buy a prusa mini+ for €450
@EmbraceMaking
@EmbraceMaking Жыл бұрын
I have no doubt the Prusa mini will be an outstanding performing machine despite having never used one myself... but I guess the other question you have to ask yourself other than price is what you need for build volume. The prusa mini is a bit smaller at 180x180 in the X/Y ... is that going to be too small for you?
