I actually prefer her live vocals. While occasionally she does exhibit a slight lack of control, I absolutely love the raspyness of her voice, and the fact that she screams like a dude instead of singing in some watered-down bubblegum pop voice like every other female singer. The fact that her voice is not super polished and smooth as glass is what makes it unique and worth listening to in my opinion. It's just a matter of taste.

When has she ever "compared" her music to the classics? She has said she's inspired by the classics, as 99.99% of artist are. Further more, she is also inspired by all of the '90's punk and grunge bands. Hence why this band is classified as post-grunge alt. rock. And how could you possible compare this band's music to maroon 5? I could maybe see early Avril, but maroon 5, a glorified boy band? I think not.

To all you goofballs arguing over whether the songs are literally about her life or are "lies", have any of you listened to any rock music? Or any music of any kind for that matter? Of course the songs aren't literal. Does anyone really think if she killed and mutilated a man that she would sing a song about it? Of course not! Music is a form of art, that's why people who make music are called artists. Music is poetry, its about expression and exploration. It's never meant to be taken literally

I can kind of understand where you're coming from. Yes post-grunge/post-punk is not the same as classic rock or hard rock. I myself find it irritating that it has been 18 years since Kurt Cobain died, and still no one can make a song without it sounding like him. That being said, it is my personal opinion that the members of this band are in fact quite talented, and her vocals, which are some of the most impressive female rock vocals I've ever heard, give this band a unique sound.

@sheilarocks2001 Yeaah lots of people give her too much shit bout her makeup and the way she dresses but I actually love it, I find it to be so rock n roll and its the way she is really. That is Taylor Momsen's style, so yeah :D

I really like Taylor as a musician. But her smoking has affected her voice so much, I mean, her speaking voice sounds terrible and croaky, and it will only get worse. And every interview I watch is the same.....what she says
