I'm not an artist and don't desire to be, but I love 3D printing miniatures. Blender is fun and I've altered models some for printing. Beyond basic shapes and figures, modeling like this felt inaccessible since I don't want to buy a nice drawing tablet for what little I do. Thank you tremendously! This is just like working in Illustrator for me and gives me control without needing hand dexterity.

Glad to know the tutorials are helping people out. When I started I was in a similar position and knowing this technique really helps when you don't have a tablet.

This is very much one of those techniques that you can use even if you have a tablet, just because of how versatile it can be for specific details you want, if needed. Awesome video!

Good tips. I always forget about using curves in sculpting. I wish there was a way for the curves to stick and remain on the surface, even after they are used, as more of a non destructive workflow. Funny, I have a tablet but I find my control with a mouse is often better and less awkward...
@ArtisansofVaul

This is very nice brush to accurately draw stitches or zippers on cloth, too bad you can't use existing curves and the curve stroke does not wrap around the object. Nice vid, thanks!

I use 3.3 when i go to change stroke to curve in the sculpt mode menu there isn't even a stroke option so i wonder how to use that curve tool you talking about.(Edit Never mind you have to be selecting the draw sharp to see the option so it important to mention...)

Hello i faced a problem in sculpting if you can help, When i try to sculpt the cursor doesn't show spherical, the cursor is oval too much on Y axis, So i cannot sculpt so good if tje cursor is not spherical So if you can tell me how to change cursor from oval to spherical. And thank you
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
That's an odd one. Was the view position directly onto the object or where you at an angle? The sculpting brush will angle to the object faces so if you aren't looking straight on it will look oval even though it's round because the angle the brush is at on the surface.

Im a novice, i saw one tutorial told to use shift and right click to smoothen the surface when sculpting (after remesh) At first its okay but lately when im trying to do it my object rather reduce in size anyone could help?
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul Жыл бұрын
That tends to happen if you do not have enough points on your mesh as part of the way it works moves them slightly closer to the connected vertices. Try remeshing the object to a higher density mesh and it should solve the issue.

Can this curve tool be applied to hard-surface polygonal models?
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what tool you'd want to use it for? I mean you can if you subdivide the hard surface model and then use it to sculpt on that.... If that's what you're looking to do?

@@ArtisansofVaul I know there's a Bezier Curve tool that works with sculpts, but a panel cut that includes curved sections would be nice for mesh objects, too.
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 ай бұрын
@TheKevphil Ah, I think it see what you mean. I don't think it would be able to work that way as its a brush setting so needs to be I'm sculpt mode. But you could make a curve using the curve pen and then convert it to a mesh and then a plane to use to cut an object.

what about using the brush inverted? like if you press ctrl the brush will be inverted
