Has your drawing momentum ground to a halt? Does it feel some sort of blockage, identified or not, is stopping further drawing progress somehow?
These very practical strategies may be just the approach needed to get around the blockage and moving forward again.

❤ Thank you for this. When stuck, growing plants from seed is really fun…you’re not necessarily creating “art” but you’re outside, paying attention and having an invested interest in a goal and learning new angles and lines. Also, following other artists whose work you love is great because sometimes you get gems of advice like this!

I’m currently resurrecting an old veggie garden. It’s certainly creative ( and sadly often the cause of dirty fingernails for me as I can’t help myself digging around even for a few moments as I pass by. Glad the videos are helpful for you 😀

This channel was sent in my direction. Thank you. I'm either crazily prolific or nothing. Once I accepted its this way, blocks just go away. And yes. I diversify and go in all new directions.

Thank you ..this came at the right time for me. I’m on holiday and have plenty of time and it’s foul weather.. why wasn’t I painting? I’m going to take your advice and try to paint faces, and loosely and quickly and see if it works. Something quite different for me.

probably has something to do with the ADHD and getting bored quicky, so I have to find something else to draw or I will just go and either buy something or end up doing something stupid 😝

I think what can block you is if one KZfaq teacher says just work with THIS material and the other one says just go this THIS material. This can stuck up.

Yes, we have to realise that not every teaching approach is compatible with others. We need to choose as best we can to accommodate where we want to end up with our drawing, with who we listen to and put into practice in our drawing.

@@stephentraversart Actually I try to work with your videos and material to follow this path. Because you are right in one thing. You can only learn to master one medium or approach at a time. Even if I am not really satisfied with my output.

Great info. Lots of wonderful suggestions here 🤓 However: There’s NO SUCH THING as “creative block”. It’s just (another) excuse we use. (Ever heard of “accountant’s block”? Cashier’s block? Doctor’s block? Mechanic’s block? Of course not. There’s no other area where “I am waiting for my muse” is an allowable out. Doctoring is very creative. As is being a mechanic. In many cases, some wd argue so is accounting 🤪🙄. You either want to do “the work” (writing, painting, drawing, whatever) or ya’ don’t. Call it what it is. You said it yourself, “it starts to SEEM difficult”, good gawd, people give up the slightest sign of difficulty. Saying, “I’m not feeling it, I’m blocked” just lets you off the hook. I live by the phrases: Don’t wait for inspiration, write (paint, draw, whatever) for inspiration. And: The more you write (paint, draw, whatever) the more you’ll write. It’s incredibly simple. Anyone who has ever been successful in their craft doesn’t let some flimsy, BS excuse get in their way.

Agreed, it just gets hard for some reason, but is some part of us still wants to try, understanding some of the possible issues can help. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. a good contribution to the subject.
