Well, that was so mean and ignorant of her to say that your work was so different, that they put it behind the door. As for my experience, I've entered some fibre competitions before, not art prize. At one lace making competition, they disqualified me because I was blogging about my work online. And they explained that submitted works shouldn't have been published anywhere, including online. I was very disappointed at myself for not knowing about that rule. In the end the work was voted 'people's choice' award. The experience made me wonder my reasons for entering competitions: it wasn't about winning, nor the prize money, nor the people's validation. I'm also not exhibiting, nor selling. I guess it was the dopamine boost that I get from such challenges.

Haha, it's a point of pride for me that my work is so different! I have only heard about that rule about work not being online through textile prizes ... to be honest, I believe that the textile community are super old fashioned, and that's why they have rules like this :/ Some art prizes specify the work not being exhibited previously, but most just stipulate the timeframe in which the work was made?
