I give Yarde no chance against Beterbiev, was surprised he lasted as long as he did. Smith is a different level to Yarde. Artur has the edge, but Smith is being hugely underestimated.

I think alot of people are getting ahead of themselves with picking Callum Smith. Yes, he is better at light-heavyweight. Yes, he's younger. Yes, he can punch. The difference is Beterbiev. He's an elite fighter; very clever, great footwork and a formidable puncher. Ahead of Smith in most aspects besides reach and age.

Everyone thought Smith was the best opponent for Canelo up until he got clocked by Alvarez. Alvarez battered Callum Smith from start to finish to win by unanimous decision, Beterbiev hits much harder and like Canelo, he can take punches. Another CSmith loss, count it.

Beterbiev is like a surgeon who operates with sledgehammers. He isn't some unskilled flailing mauler who's going to walk into anything Callum Smith has to offer. In the first seconds of the first round Beterbiev is going to land a shot, might land clean or it might catch guard... won't matter. What matters is that the second a guy like Smith feels the power he is going to bottle up and survive. It's just how he's wired. In other words Smith is food for Beterbiev and will get munched inside 3 bites. Imagine Canelo with real power at the weight, now you get it dontcha? Dudes see a few cab drivers get dropped and forget who Smith is, lmao.

I do think Smith was drained at 168. But at the same time I have a hard time picturing him beating Beterbiev. He’s not as hard as a puncher as Vosdyk (can’t spell his name). But they fight the fights for a reason

Anthony yarde had everything in his favor home advantage, judges, and a pad to cover his ribs and let's not forget the referee that stop the fight when yarde spit his mouth piece over and over again and still he got destroyed

Spot on, I forgot about that darn slippery mouthpiece. People are overestimating what Yarde did and he's quicker, more explosive and better fight on the outside than Smith. Smith is definitely the technically well rounded but just isn't the athlete that Yarde. You can't be that height and look to fight on the inside, that's Beterbiev's realm.

The thing is, Callum has one way to win which is landing his check left hook and if Beterbiev recovers from it or he can't land it then what? Beterbiev has so many more ways to win. He is strong in the clinch and can wear Callum down. He has great footwork and is very effective when it comes to cutting off the ring. His body punch is crushing and his jab is accurate and powerful. He also has a great chin and recovers very well. We have seen Beterbiev execute multiple game plans at world level in unifications and against very good LHWs. We haven't seen Callum win convincingly in multiple ways at world level like we have Beterbiev. No one asked for it but that's my take lol 😅😅😅

What comes to my mind is Beterbiev is much more than just a brawler. He's a boxer with an excellent amateur background, devastating power, ring IQ and his timing is off the chart. Joe Smith thought it would be power vs power but he was in the ring with a superior boxer who makes you pay for every mistake.

A well hydrated Callum is always dangerous, specially with that Nonito-like counter left hook. But, Beterbiev made his amateur career at heavyweight and is used to fight strong, tall and heavy fighters. Also, in my personal opinion, he is a very intelligent, mentally strong and physically elite conditioned boxer. I don't think age is a factor against him, yet, thanks to his discipline, religion and lifestyle. I think Beterbiev wins, but will Callum be the first to take him to the distance?

age is certainly NOT a problem for Beterbiev, and Smith has shown he lacks confidence when pushed back... Beterbiev pushes back and follows up with hammer blows... he will have prepared well for Smith's only punch - left hook. This will be over in a couple of rounds with Smith counted out with his back against the ropes

I would've given Smith a decent shot since he has looked good at lhw and Beterbiev is getting on a bit. However people are dismissing the fact he has been inactive for 18 months.. especially against a man like Beterbiev who gives you nothing for free and has excellent timing and punch selection. If Smith's timing is off or he starts slow, the fight is over simple as that

This man is an elite fighter and is age will not be a problem for him to deal with the threat of callum smith. I think Smith will have his moments in the fight. Beterbiev will go after the body. Stoppage at 4 or 5 with Smith not getting up from too much pain.

The thing about smith is he looks good against all the lesser opposition hes faced, but look at the canelo fight - smith was MUCH bigger but didnt fight like the bigger man. He didnt use his jab or reach advantage, he shrivels up and lowers his body when puting his guard up, didnt use his footwork and fight on the outside. This essentaily diminshed all of his size and reach advantage against a tiny canelo and this fight will be more of the same except its against a much stronger and more dangerous opponent. Smith isnt going to stay away from beterbiev, hes going to shrivel up and stand there and engage with beterbiev and get caught. If he was smart he would stick and move all night but thats not in his DNA. Beterbiev KO win within 8 rounds.

Interesting comments in here. Most of them forgetting the Canelo fight, though. Short guy, non existent footwork, punching power levels below Beterbiev's, knocked Smith around the ring for the duration of the fight.. Remember? Beterbiev is getting him out of there easily, unless he ages overnight. Which is very unlikely. Cheers!
