@JC-gc9qs The point is that no one care when one lack power, usefulness, or the daring. Clegane ain't gonna persuade nor drag those two, because of the responsibility, meaning you either become coward or die with those two NPC. The hound is pragmatic and Anya was still hopeful and naive.

They didn't starve because they didn't have silver dude. There is nothing to buy in the North in winter. You have prepared already or you're dead come winter. Oh, and having saved seven seasons of crops is no grantee if winter lasts longer. But the outrage is the abuse of guest rite. They'd have died with the silver regardless but three dogs will always be a shit.

Like yeah if he waits around and only asks poor people then sure the money will be useless. But if he traveled south and spent his savings on food and cloth he might have survived long enough for another blessing to befall him. That's why Clegane is wrong here, he thinks things are set in stone, cut and dry.. but in reality... life is all things. Good and Bad. Unique and Mundane all at the same time.

Sandor always had a soft spot for Arya and Sansa since he felt guilty he couldn't protect his little sister when the mountain allegedly killed her and their dad.... Probably he had a strong bond with his little sister before their brother killed her... And he might be missing her and trying to do right by protecting Arya and Sansa Stark.... Just a theory though...

In the books, its speculated that this is how the hound goes out in the end. He is peaceful and wouldnt make it through winter. He vaguely dies after escorting Arya holding her for ransom, she leaves him to die from wound infection, but take his name off her list, and doesnt kill him like he wants. When Brienne visits the Quite Isle, she might of seen sandor, she saw a gravedigger, who was larger than her, with healing wounds, whom she examines. He pets a dog. They say sandor died there and he left his helm on the grave where it was picked up by Rorge, who then destroyed saltpans and caused a manhunt for Sandor.

Blunt survivalism... That part I get. The behead line shows it. But ... stealing from that poor good man took away possibilities. Who knows but what that silver could have provided just enough for them to get through the winter... Instead of ending their lives as was later shown. The "way things are" might have been different. "Weak" men can learn to be stronger.

@@kevinescobar370 I think you're underestimating how much a silver coin used to be worth. A legionary would earn just over 100 silver coins per year, and they were considered middle class, so 30 silver coins is quite a significant amount, definitely enough for a poor family to survive winter

He really was right when he said there was plenty worse than him. Sandor was never knighted, he was a lowborn mercenary unlike his brother, The Mountain. He was seen as an ugly, violent killer and nothing else. Yet at multiple points in his story he stood up for characters that no other knight dared stand up for (how he treated Sansa and Arya). Sandor Clegane was a man that would’ve fueled legends for the centuries to come had he been born in the Age of Heroes like Bran the Builder and Garth Greenhands. A giant capable of the most violent of acts with a mora code that exceeded most of the knights of that time.

In theory, even if Robb had lived, and Clegor wanted to, he probably still wouldnt let the Hound to be free. He did betray his Kingdom after all. I mean Ned always looked at The Kingslayer with disgust, I am sure Robb would look at Clegor with some distain for his disloyalty.

Doesn't really matter if he was right or not. He needed the silver and he took it. His argument is that they were too weak to survive, if they were strong his argument would be that they would survive without it. He's just a man looking out for number one, who believes if you're strong enough to take what you want, you do that.

Westeros was basically lawless at this time… and winter was coming. They wouldn’t have made it on the road, and they didnt live by an orderly castle, nor were they remote enough to not be visited upon by violent thieves at some point.

Arya will always remain my favourite character. All the stark children were raised perfectly except for sansa, I hated that stupid girl with all my heart.
