Nick gets his moneys worth when he takes an eight foot spring black bear easily surpassing the 600 lbs mark. I first laid eyes on this bear June 13th,
5 minutes after filming Scott take an incredible boar on the first night of his hunt. Four days later Erin and Nick when to sit for this bear and it didnt take long for him to walk right in and give them quite the show. What an experience. Check out of our website for more videos.
Thanks for watching!

Bear meat doesn't keep like other meat. It needs to be cooled quickly to avoid spoilage. If you aren't prepared to recover a large bear promptly, please don't shoot one.

Recovered it the next day??? Sad! That meat is ruined! Didn’t even look like they dressed him out. With that fur coat on him that meat goes rancid in one hour from his death. Sad! Thanks for your comment. Irresponsible hunters like this should be fined by their local game and fish authorities. They basically killed this magnificent bruin for his hide. Sad!

Ray, YA! Even by Alaska standards thats a trophy. Minnesota had the record of the largest blackie taken. Dont remember its specs but it was huge. Damn blackies scare me. Natural maneaters & ambush hunters. Deadlier than grizzlies are.

Natural man-eaters? Nah, black bears barely eat meat, maybe the occasional deer fawn but fruits and berries are majority of a black bears diet and even a black bear of that size will mostly run before attack unless it's cornered or the person is in-between cubs and mother. Grizzly bear are far more aggressive, far more attacks and eat a lot more meat.

@@donniekane3260 Your guardian angel was working that day. Once theyre bigger than you your on their menu & hitting silently from behind is SOP for black bears. If you ever get jumped by a blackie fight for your life. HURT THEIR NOSE! (Blackies are natural maneaters, more closely related to polar bears than grizzlies are.) & they still scare the hell out of me. Alaska bushmen for 38 years living with both griz & blackies. Had 100s of bear encounters. Been Attacked 5 times. Worked with AK F&G for 25 years & very few survive a serious black bear attack. Usually ambush hunters who hit from behind & bite through the spine to paralize & then eat one alive. Up here we get BIG blackies. Some bigger than Grizzlies & they kill & eat them. On a sidenote, check out " Harleys are only good for 1 bear hunt."

The issue with constantly hunting the big animals is you overtime reduce the frequency of big animals. Look up what happened to the bengal tiger over hunting of the large males, reduced the spread of the “big” gene and thus tigers became smaller

@@QueenKayKay47 Actually no, larger animals will go for larger prey its why you don’t see coyotes go after elk. Smaller animals don’t have the weight to stop larger prey so they hit lower in their weightclass. A 200 pound bear will be more willing to expend the energy to eat a human than a 700 pound bear. If you give them an easy meal they’ll eat you but make it hard the bigger bear will look for more calorie dense food options. Yeah. The biggest issue just about everyone has with this so far is one I can't state enough.. they pretty much intentionally let meat go to waste. No excuses. Absolutely none. Recovery should have been done immediately. No indication of field dressing etc. just excuses about needing a "crew" to get it done. I would be shocked if wasn't spoiled. Totally HUGE bear that he couldn't handle alone for sure if wanted to get loaded whole, but without that planned ahead you shouldn't shoot... guide or whoever it was should nut up and get it done. You killed it. You deal with it. Fine, get all the pics, hide, and skull to prove the trophy for registering and rightfully so, but to deliberately let go bad negates ALL that IMO. Just disrespect.

Nice bear 🐻!!! Wish you had CC because we can’t hear you clearly. Just an idea but the medical field has these thick but light weight Canvas/neoprene slides for moving patients up in their beds. They have heavy duty handles so if we did have to move them down the hall in case of a fire all you have to do is roll them onto it. They’re so thick they’re almost made out of bullet proof fabric. Might want to look into them for pulling your Corey out of the woods they’re tough I do believe they would handle the sticks and branches in the way. You wouldn’t have to actually pick up the animal. Wondering how much bear fat you got off him. Man he’s big !! Nice shot and don’t blame you one bit for taking that second shot I for sure won’t want that guy getting away. Even though I believe that first shot was a fatal shot always a good idea especially with an animal that size to follow up if you can. Seriously unbelievable some of these comments are. If you don’t like hunting why are you even watching any hunting videos 🤦🏻‍♀️. Here’s what I do…. When I see something on the internet I don’t like ….. I keep scrolling 🙄. As for the ‘fellow hunters’ criticizing how one hunts … seriously in this day in age? We Have to stick together. There’s enough dumbasses trying to strip us of our God given rights without ppl with the same love for the woods going against each other. If you cannot say anything nice….. Don’t say anything at all. Your not going to change anyones mind from behind your screens. Nice bear man. Congratulations. So what did it square out to? Im guessing 8, maybe 8.5. Not bad even by Alaska standards. Few suggestions. Load your rifle BEFORE you get to the stand. If hed come after you just going out to the stand with an UNLOADED rifle youd be toast. Blacks are notoriously sneaky & quiet & ambush hunting is what they do best & they ARE natural maneaters. Just like polars are once theyre bigger than you. Having run a bait station out here in the Alaska bush where i live for over 30+ years, take them ASAP. Forget camera food. You were damn lucky he came back. Usually once theyre that size & know your up there theyre too smart to return until after your gone. Having some bear mace up there is a great idea for the " tree climbers". And thoes suckers can zoom up a tree & be on you in no time flat. Scary fast. Biggest one i ever killed was 10 ft squared. He stood up 200 yards away, let out the " death roar" & charged. Out in the open swamp i had no chance of running or getting up a tree & knowing he had to lift his head to jump the stream @ 100 yards i knelt down level & aimed for center mass & hit him square in the sternam with a 420 grain WFNHC @ 2100 FPS. ( left the muzzle at 2300 fps) The shot killed him instantly. He slid 20 feet on his face before stopping. Had to skin him out & haul the meat out in quarters. No crew out here to help. Kept the rifle next to.me for easy/ fast grab in case a grizzly decided to claim it. Only redeeming factor was being out in the open where i could see all around me. Another tip, ALWAYS carry a backup handgun. At least a 454 Casull loaded hot. Buffalo Bore makes excellent bear loads. Bit pricy, but whats your life worth. Beware of tight places & NEVER go into an Alder maze after a wounded bear. Circle it but DONT go into it. They know where your trapped & can take you out easy. They will also circle back & lay in ambush as your tracking them in. THAT bear left no blood trail due to his fat. It closed up the holes almost instantly. And a final note. The biggest blackie on record was taken in Minnesota. That was 20 years back. Not sure if any bigger have been taken since. Retired out of F&G back then. Final thought, did you have to change your pants after that? Adrenalin will do that to you. 😁 After that big one i never took another trophy bear. Let my military friends have them when there was at least 2 of us to process the buggers. We kept 3 small ones for winter meat. Better tasting. Were allowed 3 per family member in our bear infested area but 3 was plenty. Always be more next year. Sure glad you used the 45/70 instead of the bow! Nice job!!

@bobbybvi Hunting is on the ground, stalking game, reading the wind etc. Standing in a tree stand over bait is simply shooting. That is my opinion and I stick to it. Has provided more excitement for me in over 60 years than simply being in a tree stand while baiting. Where is the skill in that?

Hunting any big game is rewarding for the hunter and non hunters alike. In a lot of ways the same.. in some ways not so much! The money generated by the sales of license and the tax dollars on equipment is dumped back into land habitat improvements which benefits all wildlife. In my home state.. we have over one million acres of land know as game lands. Multitudes of animals reside within. The land can be used by bird watchers hiking biking boating and many other recreational activities. Not just hunters enjoy the land! I love all animals.. and I've learned that certain animals have to be managed. The black bear is one of them. Yes.. they're absolutely beautiful and as long as they're considered big game they'll be protected by laws. Which in turn allows them to prosper. One hundred years ago.. many species were wiped out or existed in tiny pockets of land. Now days we have more game across the board. Just wanted to share some reasons why people hunt. Hopefully that helps you out 🙂

Black bear meat is very good, to me it's better then deer meat and most people would think it's regular beef if you didn't tell them and despite watching a 5 min video alot of time and work goes into hunting an animal like this and it's never a guarantee. Bears start hitting bait sites because their natural food is running low or out, bears know the difference between natural food and bait site and will almost always pick the natural food, so if not for hunting and management of the herd bears and other animals would starve because of lack of food and would never get this big, what's worse an animal starving or being hunted ?

The first bear I ever saw was at least as big as the big one in this video. That was in the 80’s on the Loyds River which flows into Red Indian Lake in central Nfld. Estimated at over 600 pounds! I was Caribou hunting and didn’t have a bear tag so all we could do was watch it! My friend spotted it and pointed it out to me. It was across the river on the the side of a mountain, maybe 300 meters away. It’s belly was almost touching the ground!

все это печально, охота должна быть в равных условиях, медведи спокойно ели и чувствовали себя спокойно и счастливо, и на последнем кадре видно, что медведь плакал после выстрела от обиды - на шерсти морды видно засохшие слезы, а оладух-импотент который его подстрели всего лишь самоутвердился, ничтожество= all this is sad, hunting should be on an equal footing, the bears ate calmly and felt calm and happy, and in the last frame you can see that the bear was crying after the shot from resentment - dried tears are visible on the fur of the muzzle, and the impotent pancake that shot him is all only asserted himself, nothingness

Really what state is that? Pennsylvania? That's the only state I know you can't bait, cause they are already over run and don't have enough natural food to supply the herd. If you didn't bait you would NEVER see a bear in the woods I don't care if your Davey fricken cricket, not to mention in Canada and Maine and the northeast the woods are so thick you can't see 10 ft away, but you should try and stock an animal that had a nose 50x stronger then a blood hound? Another one who has all the opinions and not a clue. Wildlife research puts millions of dollars into research and biology and such and want a healthy herds of all animals and know how many can be harvested every year to get that. If not for hunting bears wouldn't get this big cause they wouldn't have enough food to support the herd, and would be in the trash and bird feeders ALOT more and would have human interaction ALOT more, and a sow (female bear) with cubs is more dangerous then this 600lb beast. I used to say the same thing until the first time I went black bear hunting in northern Maine/Canada border and 15 hunters, hunted for a week, 6 days x 15 hunters all over bait and I was the ONLY person to harvest a bear, not saying it to brag but to tell you how hard it is and just cause you bait don't mean it's a guarantee. That year was plenty of berries and fruit in the wild so bears weren't coming to the bait, bears know the difference between natural food and bait and will always pick the natural food and when that runs out then they hit the bait, so if not for hunting that natural food would run alot sooner and bears would be starving, is that what you want? Wants more cruel starving and animal or hunting it ?

Shooting a bear when he comes to the bait barrel every day isn't hunting but it's a nice outing for the overweight, older hunter and it makes money for the organizers. Hunting is putting in hours in a freezing deer stand and maybe going home empty handed. When you finally shoot one you have accomplished something.

Well if the bear season is in September, like it is in Maine it isn't always going to be freezing cold. I have sat in the pouring rain though for beat and when the sun goes down and your soaking wet it gets pretty cold and you can't hear anything other then rain and know your 30 YRDS away from where bears are coming to eat or could stumble upon one in the pitch black on the way out of the woods, while your heading to a truck and hes heading to dinner. Plenty of people sit in a stand for a week straight and don't see a bear at all. I'm gonna guess you never hunted a black bear, the native Americans used to call it the ghost of the woods or the shadow of the woods , cause without bait you would NEVER see a black bear in the woods. Don't question it until you've tried it. The laws are the way they are for hunting animals for a reason, different rules for different species, millions of dollars goes into biology and research to figure out the hunting rules and how many can be harvested for a healthy herd. If guys didn't hunt bears they would be overgrown and would not get this big because of too much competition for food, and would be in your trash and bird feeders ALOT more and would mean a lot more human contact, which a 200lb sow with cubs is just as much if not more dangerous than that 500-600lb bear.
