The scales are from Overclocking, when resonators use too much of their power they become permanently changed. Examples of this are mortefi’s scales on his chest, and Yang Yang’s feathers in her hair.

maybe because both Jinhsi and Jiyan got dragon power from Jué? actually Mortefi has dragon skin too but I guess it's not from Jué

I think you're some of the first people I watched who immediately got that Jue saved Jinhsi as a child lol. The other child might be Changli, but I don't know, maybe we'll find out later. Anyway, I'm here for Changli. She has very big and very lovely eyes no seriously, her eyes are great.
