@@desireeencinas2930 You are so right. And they're proud of it! There was a one income family w 2 kids on a documentary that spent $4,000 every month on food. They ordered every meal, most were delivered to their home. They weren't able to pay their bills and couldn't understand why. SMH

All the dinners looked tasty. To be even more thrifty you could cook a pound of dried beans and probably get twice the amount as the two cans of beans. The dried beans would probably cost less than the two cans.

why don' you have more subs? way more people watch than sub. i always watch and like. i like how how real you are. there is no need to dance around and sing. a real mom with a baby on her hip. also so many cooks now put so much heat there is no way anyone in my family will eat it.

@@MealsWithMaria thank you so much! I’ve had amazing people in my corner and I am starting 2023 cancer free. It took me all of 2022 but I went and kicked cancer’s butt. I told my son I was going to make sure cancer realized it picked the wrong girl and he had nothing to worry about. He turned 16 this month and being able to hand him a birthday card with mom kicked cancer’s butt inside and watching him cry tears of relief was the best feeling in the world. He said that was the best birthday present he will ever get.

Thank you for reminding people to store and use that chicken broth. Homemade broth is so wonderful. Even if I only have a cup or so of homemade broth, adding it to a recipe and also using whatever is on hand, like Bouillon powder or soup base, that one cup of broth imparts a real homemade flavor to the dish or soup you are making.

The pinto beans with cheese is one of my favorites. Add some cornbread and fried potatoes with onions for this Southern girl and call it supper. Your baby boy is such a cutie. I feel that your beans and rice could make a nice burrito just to make the meal a little different (they could even be prepped ahead of time and put in the freezer for quick meals or lunch the next day). We have a lot of bbq pulled meat in our house (aka what ever meat is on sale that week or whatever is in the freezer that was on sale) I usually serve ours on a bun because my husband likes it that way, but I think I will try mine without next time, that looked good. I enjoyed seeing the chicken and rice and will be trying that one this week, it looked really good and easy (some days I just need easy and tasty). Thank you for another quality video and introducing me to the budget bytes website, love what you do here on your channel.

You pinto beans look good, I wanted to tell you about a recipe I recently made. It was one can ( just 2 people) of trappey brand jalapeños pinto beans, a container on pico( we always have) used about 1 tbsp of the pico. Two slices of bacon cut up and friend and I package of turkey Tasso, used just a small piece of it and cut up. Fried the meat up, added my can of beans, a smudge of water, tbsp pico, season to taste an cooked maybe 10-12 minutes on low, ate over rice, so good!!

I’m one of those mamas that didn’t cook. I really regret not making myself cook for the kids. My son cooks but my daughter doesn’t cook a lot. I just never enjoyed cooking and when I would try my husband would say, “Ugh, it looks like it’s been eaten once already.” How’s that for encouragement? (We eventually divorced and my next husband likes my cooking.) So I wasn’t very motivated to spread out my skills. But I don’t have children relying on me anymore, so I’m okay. And I cook more now that there’s someone to encourage me.

Great Budget video and the kids like it so Im sure my picky eaters will too! Thanks so much for sharing! Thanks hubby for teaching the kids young that some moms DON'T cook and you guys are certainly blessed to have one that does frugally and with family in mind. The kids are so cute!

Thank you for sharing these recipes. I had two cans of pinto beans as well as some instant rice on hand so I made the beans and rice. I forgot that it called for cheese but it was still delicious. Also I did not have any sour cream on hand. I did saute first a pound of turkey sausage that I had and that really boosted the flavor and the content. The trick about blending up one of the cans of pinto beans is spot-on. It really thickens up the dish. I would tell people to watch the beans as it simmers it may get a little too thick and they may need to add a few spoonfuls of water to thin it out. Very easy recipe and the whole meal came together within 30 minutes.

Great inexpensive meals, as usual. I also enjoy watching your little guy, Ben, getting bigger. Not that baby on your hip anymore. My grandsons are 18, 16, and 14, and they all enjoy cooking. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
