Zhonggong Grand Market, with a history spanning over 2000 years since the Han Dynasty, covers 25 acres today. With over 600 permanent stalls and nearly a thousand temporary ones, it hosts major fairs on the first and sixth days of the lunar calendar, with smaller ones on the third and eighth days. In the twelfth lunar month, these gatherings extend until 2 or 3 PM, attracting tens of thousands of visitors.
The market's New Year goods, mostly locally produced, include specialties like rice cakes, tofu, millet tea, farm-raised chickens, eggs, and freshly ground tofu. Popular items such as freshly slaughtered poultry and various meats, adorned with traditional "福" characters, couplets, window decorations, and bright red lanterns, complete the festive offerings.
