IMPORTANT NOTE: In December 2022, the base game got updated and loot tables changed. This doesn't have a major impact on this walkthrough, though, but it does mean that some featured loot has changed. Most notably, the flare gun is no longer in the Ravine, so going there for early protection is not a reliable strategy. However, some of the stims appear to be in mostly the same locations as before. Until this is completely mapped out, I recommend using this walkthrough as a guide, but plan accordingly: the stims and loot outlined in the video may not be there anymore.

I am working on this challenge now. Attempt 1, I ran right into a wolf because I was thinking there were no animals in the game. The second time, I took too much time to get out of Bleak, so I was starving and freezing and finally, I fell into the water in Forlorn Muskeg. Now, I am on my third try, and I got to Washed Out Trailers before nightfall, so I am making progress, and intend to follow your method as close as I can.

oh and i do wanna say that i enjoyed this video more because of the comments and the chat with the community....so i dont know if its just me....but thats a cool bonus

Just completed this challenge solely because of this video. Had tried so many times prior and never got past two graves. There are no guaranteed stims anymore. I had no stims or bedroll to get into mountain town, but I broke down some clothing and made a snow shelter to sleep. I think that's the best option honestly if you have crap luck like me. Had half health and no stims all the way up until lighthouse in desolation point. Found the second stim in cinders mine but on the shelves right inside the entrance, not the same location shown in the video. Overall super helpful regardless of the update changes. Great narration too

3:18:24 if you get to close to a wolf it will always attack you, no matter what - even on pilgrim you'll have a struggle then.

Darkwalker was the first and even though I died on the hill to ash canyon in coastal highway by a bear that you had said may or may not be there lol I still got the badge for darkwalker luckily! i guess what sucks in this challenge is 1) it is interloper so no guns and no tools until you find the hacksaw and prybar i guess, 2) every wolf encounter can strip a third of your health unless you keep running away from them till you reach an indoor location OR do that weird light a torch, drop it, switch to stone and aim at wolf to make him charge and then run away cause of dropped torch trick, 3) food is a problem since there are no rabbits or deer and obviously your health can only be healed by stims. just keep making fires and carry a torch during fog and snow to use less matches.

im so jealous of how easy you make this shit look. You just walk across the whole map like its nothing, im confined to one area, if im in iit im fine, the moment i venture out too far im dead..

I just managed to do it in 10 days 4 hours 10 minutes. It was my first attempt after 3-4 bleak inlet resets due to inexperience in that zone and super bad wolves and weather. I did not take your route, I instead went through the dam and went to pleasant valley and through the cave to coastal highway. I guess just another way to do it with more loot. Pleasant valley did nothing but blizzard and snow for 3-4 days.

Holy man. The tip about the death walls in the ravine would have helped on one 176 day run I had 😂

This partially helped me through this challenge, only took 23 attempts. Your loot RNG was ridiculous compared to what i saw, because of this i had to improvise many times which really strained my resources. here's my challenge for you, that'll also double up as a fool proof tutorial for all us noobs. 1) only wear one layer of clothing (i didnt get most of mine until the 3rd grave, I even fully looted cannery) 2) use atleast 3 stims before entering TWM (finding additional food to regain stam afterwards made it tough, found my first one in cannery too) 3) Survive one bear attack (unavoidable HRV bear knocked me down to 1/4 health) If you could pull all this off and still beat the challenge, i fell like that could double as a reliable walkthrough on how to do this regardless of RNG.You'll also get a idea of what i had to do to beat it. Just finished my first attempt in 11 days 14 hours with ~50% condition and stim in bag (and I've never played on harder difficulty than voyager). You were right - since you survive the Broken Railroad and get to Milton farm, it's easy (before that, I almost starved to death). Only accident was when I ran into a wolf when avoiding a bear in Forlorn Muskeg (that got me to those 50%). The extended cooking from DLC helped a lot - especially Venison pie (+3kg carry capacity) and Rose Hip pie (restores Fatigue). I think I've met less wolves than in the voyager survival, on the other hand, I've met 2 or 3 mooses. Without a distress pistol I was really nervous in PV, so I rather took way longer path around Skeeter's Ridge to avoid a bear near the bridge in front of Point of Disagreement. To be honest, this challenge was way easier and more pleasant than The Hunted 1 to me (I really hated escaping that bear). Thank you for this walkthrough, it helped me a lot!

Theres a guaranteed blue flare and cedar on the second floor of the destroyed lighthouse right at the beginning and sometimes a sewing kit but It's rare.

Challenge nicely done. A new difficulty just removing the use of torches. That will take the game to a new level especially for players that are always looking for hard challenge

I've noticed that most TLD KZfaq Players don't Ussualy look around Outside in the Towers, the little ledge outside the Tower sometimes has loot. I mean in the outside of the tower, not in the ground around the tower down below..!! :)

For me the best way to learn the map is playing Wintermute and easy challenges (Hopeless Rescue, Whiteout, Nomad and Archivist). After that there will be only Ash Canyon, Hushed River Valley and Bleek Inlet that you didnt visit and you will be much more comfortable about map and game mechanichs.

This walkthrough encouraged me to try this challenge but after about 10 starts it has changed soooooo much since the recent updates! Definitely need a new walkthrough. I got out of BI intact but with no loot hardly at all, only one can to make water, no clothes found and almost constant blizzards or strong winds so can’t use torches I can’t get much further than the maintenance shed. Then I fume that you found the toques!!!

I found doing this challenge that if you don't utilize space properly and use your resources in a timely fashion, you will die. 1) Inside (trailers, cabins, workshops, caves) these spaces are enclosed and allow you to warm up without a fire. When you are inside you want to use this resource to sleep, prep tea ingredients, prep tinder (if you have no newspaper), boil water, make tea, repair/make clothes, harvest cloth, make bandages, collect books and newspaper. Use torches, not matches to light fires, that way if your character messes up lighting a fire you wont waste a precious match and you can use the same torch to try again. 2) Outside (wilderness, open caves, open sheds, broken houses, train carriages) you need a fire, heated teas and food to keep warm. When outside you should use your fire to heat tea, food and take torches. Don't spend too long in one place, just heat tea and go (unless there is a blizzard). Avoid sleeping outside! lack of sleep won't affect your HP. Avoid traveling during a blizzard! It is a waste of resources. While navigating outside, collect the following: sticks, wood, coal, mushrooms, rose hips and stones. Optional: old mans beard.

I actually dont like these challenges or even speedrunning in this game but the way you always explain stuff and tell us whats your tought process on everything is so good that i still want to see this vídeo even if it is a challenge.. But yeah basically i only like the survival mode in this game.. I played the first 2 parts of the story and i got bored 😅 But still.. Awesome vídeos man.. Keep up the good work.. OMG!!! Heading to the last grave at Crystal Lake I got got by the dang bear in Coastal Highway. I saw him from a good distance at first and fired a flare at him. He ran off over a hill in front of me. I was more worried about 3 wolves that were all around me at this point. I hit one with a flare and it stuck to him. It was pretty funny watching him run off glowing red from the flare. Then out of nowhere the bear got me from behind. I have no idea how he got back there, but he was and I'm dead.

I keep dying in the same spot! There is a nasty aggressive wolf guarding the bridge area near grandma’s house in Milton after coming down the mountain. Died twice so far. Carrying a lit torch does not stop him from attacking! I’m gonna have to try and save a flare for this nasty beast

A question about the main route taken (and me not been to Bleak Inlet yet): since I know Ravine connects into Bleak Inlet, why haven't you gone to Ravine first (even with returning to Bleak Inlet in order to pursue the run since you can't climb up) thus getting that grave AND the flare gun for the rest of the run? Would also completely spare you going up and down the rope while traveling into DP?

At double speed, I can listen to your stream and the conversation sounds very normal. At regular speed it feels like you are speaking in slow-motion.
