The count of 1.25 crore is only the Bengali Muslims, the Hindu Bengalis are not included. So, if the number of Hindu Bengalis is added the total number of foreigners will increase reducing the % of indigenous people. The Assamese politicians have been enjoying royal comfort with the support of foreigners vote keeping the future lives of indigenous people in mortgage. No way out. Very near future Assam will be governed by the foreigners, so called Bangladeshi and the fate of indigenous people will be like that of Kashmiri pandits.

Brother the thing is this statement "1.25 crore Bangladeshis residing in Assam" the data mentioned in it is misleading and incorrect. Because 1.25 crore is the Population of Bengali Muslims in Brahmaputra Valley of Assam consituting 34 % of the total Population of Assam. So are we claiming that all these 34% bengali Muslims are Bangladeshis? NO it can't be and We cannot point them right? Absolutely there are Bangladeshis who came into Assam post 1947 and the Government needs to find them but not all bengali Muslims are Bangladeshis right? I think we all must learn the true histroy of these East Bengal Origin Muslims now residing in the Brahmaputra valley of Assam. History: During the British Rule, there was a policy named "grow more food" and "grow more tea" by the British Government. There was also large scale landlessness going on inn the areas of Mymensingh and parts of East Bengal (then British India, East Bengal) (now in present Bangladesh). And in Assam too we needed an Agricultural class so that Assam's economy can be taken to a better state as the only way out was the development of the Agricultural sector at that time. Therefore on the basis of this policy "grow more food" in assam, a farming class was needed to be brought in Assam. Hence the British Government by giving incentives asked those people of Mymensing, Rangpur, pabna who were facing landlessness in those areas to Migrate to the Brahmaputra valley of lower Assam. These Population started migrating from one part of British india(East Bengal) to another part of British India (Lower Assam). This massive Migration started from the 1890s and continued till 1935. And after wards in small scale uptill 1947. As it was British India at that time, there was no constraints of border and therefore we cannot call these group as "foreigners" right as They basically moved in the same country. So these people after coming to Lower Assam, they cut the jungles of Lower Assam, they started residing near the reverine areas of the Brahmaputra valley, they started farming as they knew how to farm multiple types of crops in a single land. In this way they also started making contributions to the Assam's economy. They spoke Bangla at their home but gradually started to assimilate with the Assamese people here. After Independence of India in 1947 these people gave up their bengali Cultural and linguistic Identity and wanted to be Idenfied as Assamese as requests were also made by leaders of that time that these bengali origin people should merge with the Assamese people. Ultimate this happened. The hahitto xobha of Assam also termed them "Naya Axomias" and started accepting these people. These people now write "Assamese" to be their language in the census and there are no Bengali Medium schools in Brahmaputra valley where this Bengai origin muslims are in Majority. These Bengali origin Muslims sent their sons and daughters to Assamese medium schools where they are learning about Assam and Assamese culture. Although they have a home Bengali dialect to speak but they revert to Assamese in the official working. So how can all these people be Called Bangladeshis when they moved from one part of India to another part of India provided that Bangladesh didn't even exist at that time. ?? Problem: The problem now these people face is as they have the same language (Bengali) and actual foreigners from Bangladesh also speak bengali, it becomes tough to Identify them and due to these reason, these poeple face discrimination. It is certain hat people who came post 1947 must be sent back to Bangladesh as it is illegal. But Generations of people who has been residing in the Brahmaputra valley right from 1890s (almost 120 years) and have moved from one part of British India to Another part of British India cannot be called Bangladeshis. So, the 34% , 1.25 crore population of Assam are these East Bengal Origin Muslims who gave up their Bengali Identity and started idenfying themselves as Assamese must be given respect. Or if they aren't accepted as Assamese by the core Assamese group, these people must be asked to write Bangla in their census, Offcourse there are Actual foreigners who entered India post 1947, they must be found out and sent back to Bangladesh. This can only be done by the government. I hope people now know the history of East Bengal Origin Muslims. There are various authentic sources of what i have written here. Many research papers and Phd thesis are on this. Just google it and you will get it. Also, as bengali Origin Muslims are brought in Assam through "grow more food" policy, the same was done through "grow more tea" in Assam. In upper Assam tea tribes were brought from parts of orissa ( present day In India) to some Parts of Upper Assam. Do we have called them foreginers too had orissa been a different country now???
