Ascender expertly navigates the nosing part (the small lip you mentioned) with precision. For nosing less than 2cm, Ascender operates in its standard mode. Should the nosing exceed 2cm, the front ToF sensor triggers a warning signal, prompting the machine to readjust its positioning for the climbing process.

@@MigoRobotics I measured the lip of my stairs. Looks like the rounded lip actually extends to 1.5", or 3.8cm. It would be great to get a video of how the climbing process looks with the ToF sensor getting triggered and having to readustment at every step. Not really worried about the speed. Just hoping this thing "can" successfully clean my hardwood stairs.

Just keep in mind two important requirements: the stairs must be no taller than 8.7 inches (22 cm) and the minimum width for circular/spiral stairs on their widest side should be at least 5.9 inches (15 cm). A simple rule of thumb: If an adult can comfortably step on the stairs, Ascender should be able to handle them with ease, both ascending and descending.

Hi there, Spiral stairs + Narrow space + Open/No riser is the most challenging use case for Ascender. First, if you have a 40cm x 15cm space on the stair, then Ascender can climb up/down without issues, regardless if it is a normal or spiral staircase. Previously we occasionally saw failure when the stair was open or without riser, as Ascender couldn't see the next step. This issue is largely resolved after we integrate the front ToF sensor's data into the motion controller. Currently, our AI/Vision team is developing a lite model to further improve the detection accuracy and reliability (you can think of it as a dual fail-safe). Rest assured, delivering a machine that fails to climb stairs, when its key innovation is precisely 'stair climbing,' is simply not an option for us.😎

Ascender can clean the sides of the stairs as well. Even though the legs on both sides of our machine are 4.5cm (1.77 inches) wide, the side brush rotation effectively removes dust underneath the legs. While it may not cover every inch of the stair surfaces, the actual cleaning results are still reassuring.

@@MigoRobotics Here’s my feedback and suggestions, use one arm to climb, reduce the size of the robot by %30, switch to solid state batteries for shorter recharging, increase the suction power by 2x, reposition the lidar from top to left front and let the robot see by rotating, mopping cloth should be larger and can lift by 20mm, dust bin can be made smaller with larger dustbin in station. Use double rollers, and choose a suction motor with low noise level. Good luck.

The peak torque of the robot's joints is 4N.M, so Ascender can't lift a fat cat :) You will probably receive a warning on you phone "Unable to initiate stair climbing, please check!"

"Going down" is exactly the REVERSE procedure of "Going up" in our control algorithms.

@@Bmr4life Device pulling itself up is not exactly the same as bracing itself before you bring on the weight of they unit from the upper step. If you don't get the height right, you might endup tumbling down the stairs! The sensors are also a lot closer to the lip of the upper step, making them easier to find than finding the floor of the step your are trying going down to. (many steps have different heights) But the main point here is, why a recording wasn't done showing the process and instead had to be edited to reverse and change the angle of the first video. @Guerneena, great eye!!

I am a bit surprised becuase ... all the clips in this video are recorded not CGI. If you spend a bit more time watching the video you can see the machine actually shaked slightly a few times.
