I'm quite fond of the Mayflower curry sauce mix - I make up a pan's worth on the hob, then throw in the cooked chips and give it a good old stir around to make sure all the chips are coated. 😋

Great reviews as usual Gareth.I cant shop at Asda anymore due to the price on the shelf being different from the scanned price, this has been going on for years, today at the Arbroath store it was the FIRST thing i picked up, a French Stick with lable at £1.10 scanned through at £1.15 only 5p but it happens all the time. and has been going on since before the current takeover.

I do my grocery shopping online because of ill-health and from Morrison's regularly get the Bisto Chips In Curry Sauce, which says it is mild but isn't mild enough for me, so I mix mayonnaise into the curry sauce to make it milder, so that it tastes like a coronation curry sauce and I enjoy it that way. That's usually what I do if a curry sauce isn't mild enough for me otherwise I wouldn't be able to eat it. I have thought if ever I do a online grocery shop at Asda that I would try their version of chips in curry sauce.

I bought some spaghetti bolognese sainsburys own brand it was 70p a can, might have been an offer but Heinz was £1 .40, dropped in a couple of weeks later same can 90p a can, they say inflation is lower, but I am not seeing that when shopping. 20p rise in 2 weeks.

Both very nice Gareth, much cheaper than going to a Chinese or chippy. I love the Mayflower Beef Curries they sell in Poundland A few months ago they were £1.50, now they are £2.00 Much more than 10% inflation (I think shops are milking it) 10% inflation would mean £1.65 (NOT £2.00) We are being diddled 👍🏻👍🏻😁😁

I was in farmfoods today and they have some signature meals that look decent. They're 3 for £10. Lamb keema bhuna, the steak cottage pie and the butter chicken looked the nicest. They also have some new Kershaw's meals they do spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread and lasagne and chips. Another item that looked interesting was some chicken mini fillets, salt and vinegar flavour and the odd one sour cream and onion flavour.

I like you do the comparison - and as ever, your vids. But I do worry that people buy these things to save money, when they really aren't. Cheapo oven chips, and a few onions, herbs and spices - and if you want to be flash add in some coconut milk - will make multiple times as many helpings - I dunno five or six - for the price of two of the Mayflower.

@@paulboardman01 To be fair, most Chinese places do make their own curry sauce from scratch (not all, granted). If it wasn't so expensive, I would love to visit the UK and have a curry. They say that it's SO expensive to visit London though

The crinkled chip probably hold more sauce than straight ones. They say that about pasta too, the more sauce it holds the better. However, you can always stick the Asda chips on a butty and with all the leftover sauce - dip yer bread! 😁😋

Great video again, i think if you cooked them in the oven it would put the cost off them right up. It might put another £1 on the price.

I may start shopping with Asda again I've liked a lot of the Asda food reviews you've done Gaz the only reason I shopped at Iceland was because they still bring food in bags whereas Asda stopped the use of them which has a big impact on how the items are brought in from the front door. They pretty much shot themselves in the foot and lost over two years of business from me just for the sake of a carrier bag.

Bags also have a big impact on the environment - surely a far bigger collective problem than your first-world issue of moving groceries through the front door and onwards to the kitchen? Maybe if you bought re-usable bags and actually went shopping yourself, your inability to get groceries across your threshold wouldn't be so problematic, or as limiting in choice.

@@X22GJP Surely you have heard of biodegradable substances to make carrying containers, alleviating some of the problems encountered within the environment. Before you start assuming my lifestyle choices as far as going to the supermarket to buy weekly shopping is extremely problematic for me virtually impossible. Let me educate you, I'm unable to do this hence why online shopping is so important to me struggling to bring food into my home loosely is a major concern for me with my disabilities I Do have reusable bags, yet I still have to bend down and pack them from the doorway in order to bring them into the home.

@@Johna130 I ask the delivery driver to place a filled crate on top of two empty crates. These are placed beside a chair with the empty reusable shopping bags. This makes it much easier for me to transfer the groceries across into the bags, without having to bend down to the ground. I add a note to the delivery instructions that I may need help with unloading the groceries. I'm currently using Sainsbury's and the drivers have generally been helpful. With the prices going up, it's frustrating not to be able to get to places like Lidl for the cheaper prices.

Asda one if you had sauce left add in some rice and veg or if on a day after doing chicken any chicken bits as well to give a single portion tasty lunch. I have no idea what is in Chinese Curry I am allergic to even tiny bit if 😂 cross contamination and that is Epipens out and off to hospital. I eat the hottest Chilli/Mexican or Indian food no issues at all.... Chinese Curry smells so good as well.
