Hello and welcome to a brand new series on the Channel.
Today we talk about sizing of sprites and spritesheets for RPG MAKER MV.
Specifically for non CHIBI and pixel art style character sprites.

@@FlowPoly um well how would we make a dating sim in rpgmaker work? lmao ive been trying but i cannot wrap my head around it. idk if thats too vague of a question or not but youre the only one i trust to teach me lol

Sorry for the late reply, do you mean like dating mechanics as in a metre that fills up over a period of time kind of thing, could you maybe give more detail?

Heya,could you tell me what template you're using? All templates i find are 48x48,and needs more detail and i'm bad with it. That's why i'm asking what template you're using.

I vvanted to search hovv to do the equivalent of hat I can do in PyxelEdit and get the full sized spritesheet from scratch fitting in their cells so I can place and animate them vvithout having misaligned characters/vehicles hen I try to do them 1by1 and get them to be neatly placed in the same configuration as a RPGMaker spritesheet. Is there a Size Guide tutorial for that somevvhere using Aseprite?

What template are you using? I'm making something in my free time but have no spriting talent so I'm trying to find a base to work off of but am finding no luck with something that isn't the gross chibi style.

I bought a Character pack which included bases to make your own. I believe it was pop horror character pack made by Malibu Darby. It’s on itch.io

@@FlowPoly I try 150 px because I can't draw any smaller and I try to save it as png. Alas, they are pixelated when I try to resize it into 48

They do not come with it. I used templates from an asset pack called pop horror by malibu Darby you can find it on itch.io if you are interested

Hello my friend, i would like to know what happen if i take a screenshot when i have finish my work on aseprite on the free version ? Is it clean image or they do something to not make us screenshot ?

The image would not be transparent if you did that. You could always use GIMP. It’s a free software like photoshop

I have a new aseprite tutorial that I am editing at the moment. So look out for that. As for sizes for characters, items and houses. It really depends on the game engine you are using and the style you are going for. I use RMMV which uses 48x48 tiles

sorry, what i dont really understand is, when u load a non standard sprite sheet into the game, like u have a higher character, how did rpg maker know the size of tile of character u imported?

Use a $ sign as explained for non standard. What do you mean by higher character?

Yeah you can, it’s just a pixel art program. So this can be used with any engine.

@@FlowPoly ty for your time I have subbed & 👍jus one last question do u first make yr sprites then u decide the canvas size or do u make the canvassize first & then the sprites & also do u make the complete maps, background, tiles etc in aseprite then export to rpg maker or jus sprites, items, tiles etc in aseprite & then u export to rpg maker I jus want to follow yr style ty for the help once again

I have question. Why you only use 1 layer and 1 frame for that? it's alot. I watch other KZfaqr like you. That teach pixel but they use layer by layer for character and frame for movements

Because I used an already made Spritesheet, using a pixel size that fits my game. If I were to use that method of making 1 sprite and then using frames for animation I would have to export it out as a Spritesheet anyways.
