I had one of these, bought from argos in 1979-1980 time period. Cost was about 20 iirc. For my birthday that year I had enough money to buy an electronic game. Went to argos and got a space war thing which looked great from the box (it was shaped like a computer console and had spaceships flying around). Got home and discovered that it was basically 16 leds where you controlled one and had to find the hidden assailant. It was unbelievably rubbish. Luckily argos agreed to swap for a different game and I chose this one because I already liked electronic mastermind and liked the idea of a pontoon game too. It worked well but had terrible battery life and failed after 3 months or so due to the display. I got a replacement from them, that also failed after a few months - they had stopped selling them by that point so got money back.

People pointing out that Ashens mis-remembered the value of an ace in Blackjack, but not mentioning that both times he claimed there was "probably a nine" in the Mastermind games there was actually only a 1/9 chance of that being true. (It's more likely that one of the other numerals was used twice in the code. He eliminated the possibility of there being more than one zero in the first game, and more than one eight in the second game.) From Wikipedia: "If there are duplicate [numerals] in the guess, they cannot all be awarded a [correct guess] unless they correspond to the same number of duplicate [numerals] in the hidden code." But also, who cares? Apparently I care too much, so that was a stupid question.

That Pontoon game seemed to play more like Baccarat, instead of Blackjack, because the jack(?) it got wasn't added to its final hand score (10's & face cards are worth 0 in Baccarat, however, the biggest score you can achieve is supposed to be only 9). Maybe it was a weird hybrid of the two games, hence the strange title of the game itself.
