What great vocal range and intonation she has, extremely soulful, just impeccable and an accomplished multi-instrumentalist on top of it all. Just spellbindingly incredible.

RIP Townes Van Zandt. As a kid his music was on a local NPR station and that was how I found Townes and this was his big hit. Most people might know a cover version duet from Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson but Townes was the original songwriter and singer. He passed sometime back and heard about it on the web. Ashley Campbell's version is pretty well done. Also RIP to Glen Campbell. He was a close friend to John Denver and used to perform Denver's song Take Me Home, Country Roads. There used to be a video on KZfaq of Glen discusing the passing of John Denver around 1998 during a TV performance but can't locate it today. Saw it the day Glen Campbell passed. I'm a huge Denver fan. He is one of the reasons I became a country and folk music fan. The other was Johnny Cash. That lead me to John Prine, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, Leonard Cohen, Emmylou Harris and also to Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, Dolly Parton, Travis Tritt and Reba McEntire. And so many other artists and groups.

You could see the love and pride in her dads face when they played together before his passing. God bless the Campbell family!

So much talent...Ashley is a great musician and singer in her own right. I met Ashley at a little joint called Jimbo's Sandbar in the Ft Lauderdale area a few years ago and she stunned me when she told me she didn't learn to play banjo until college (California of all places) and not from the guy sitting next to her (with the Ole Miss cap) playing guitar. That's Carl Jackson...He's only one of the greatest banjo pickers of all time and he is also her Godfather who played banjo with her father for decades.

The very first country song I ever learned to sing was Rhinestone Cowboy in '78 or '79 @ the age of about 7 years old (I'm Irish by the way). I just crawled out from hiding under a rock for a while & discovered this purely by accident. G'damn Ashley what a voice. Every time she goes for the high notes even the hairs in my nose & ears stand on end! The Campbell legacy is truly in safe hands.....and better looking too! And a massive shout out to those accompanying her. The blend is truly magnificent! This is a perfect example of why I love & will forever love Country Music.
