Asia Qualifying NEW Format (AFC) - FIFA World Cup 2026

Welcome to world cup travelers. In today's video, we will review the new qualifying format from Asia (AFC) for the 2026 world cup.
With the new 48-team expansion, Asia will go from 4 direct slots and 1 playoff slot to 8 direct slots and 1 playoff slot, competing in the following format:
Based on FIFA ranking, the top 36 teams have been divided into nine groups of four. the lowest-ranked teams will match up in a playoff to remain in the qualification group.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the next round.
The 18 qualified teams will then be divided into 3 groups of 6. They will again play home and away matches against each other with the top 2 teams per group qualifying directly for the 2026 world cup. The third and fourth places from each group will move on to the final round for another opportunity.
These 6 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 3. The top team in each group will qualify directly for the world cup. The two-second places will match against each other. The winner will advance to the intercontinental playoff.

Afghanistan 🇦🇫 is surely getting into asian cup if not world cup, won against india and tied qatar, winning from kuwait will make them qualify for asian cup 2027 and also a chance to qualify to world cup ❤🇦🇫

Afghanistan 🇦🇫 has beaten india, now if india loses against kuwait in june and Afghanistan wins against kuwait we have a chance to qualify inshallah

@@Naderzadeh-oc8en Yes if we win against Kuwait and India tie or lose to Qatar we will go to next round but its highly unlikely since our team is so inconsistent, we tied with B team of Qatar, we lost 8-1, 6-0, and 1-0 before that to their A team, we also lost to Kuwait 4-0 in first game.

@@tommy.vercetti2003 Just a tie does it all.. qatar will surely win from india. if we draw against kuwait we are 2nd thus, qualifying to asian cup 2027 and world cup qualifiers round 3 , making it asia’s top 18 teams

What about the third place in the first round for example let’s say Japan 1st Syria 2nd North Korea 3rd Myanmar 4th what happens with North Korea are they out or they play playoffs?
