it takes a long time for torches to burn out (from what i know of rlcraft), something like 30 ingame days. in that ballpark

I think what i love most about this pack is that you are punished by weeping angels for not being aware of your surroundings, but you are punished by creepers for being aware. Its like this cruel combo where you basically choose how you want to die every time

That's really cool man. Just a few things I'd add. 1 make it so that you can hold a lit flame, but that it goes out after however long. 2 Make it so when you're looking at a weeping angel you have to blink after like 10 seconds or something. And three, do something with the skeletons, they've always just been more annoying than scary imo. Other than that tho, great work!

The Betweenlands' cave sounds and early caves were traumatizing. Can't wait until they add "stalker" mobs into the caves, which are supposed to move on ceilings.

I got a good idea!!: Add some kind of important object, and make it louder than other sounds. This makes the player not want to use it so they can hear surroundings, but the object is required to survive. A device that is related to temperature or happiness. Like, a portable fan. Another good idea!: A Doll like item that may move when you are further away from it. If it is moved from its location by the player it will go back to the first place it was placed. I hope you like the ideas!

for anyone not sold on the torches mod: you can actually craft them into their lit form in your inventory, so you don't have to light them each time they're placed :)

This torch mechanic was originally intended by Notch to be a feature in Minecraft, but it was removed.

Another GREAT dimension mod that adds some spook is The Midnight. At night, The Midnight spawns red tears in reality that allow you to enter into the dimension. Guarding these Rifts are mobs called Rifters that will drag you in by your feet if they catch you. Once you enter, you can't leave until night falls on the Overworld again, and opens the Rifts.

Bro the betweenlands mod made me shit my pants like it’s straight up terrifying when you play in the dark. I still remember venturing away from my hut like 100 blocks (that was a long ass distance), checking a ruin for a chest and suddenly I hear a slimy, wet sound behind me and behind me is a human carcass warped into the shape of a spider, emerging from the mud behind me before it started chasing me. Needless to say, I speed ran faster than dream himself back to the pseudo-safety of my mudhut.

I remember there was some underrated mod, NoShelter probably not for a new version, just for 1 7 10, it made zombies destroy blocks and build structures and creepers more smart, they exploded to destroy walls to make monsters in. I combined it with hardcore darkness and most agressive 1 7 10 mods like Nigtmare Creatures. That was a great modpack.

The Rift mod with hc darkness is also scary imo. I remember getting dragged into the portal and I was traumatised to go outside every night

also add disk 13 as the default ambience A somewhat unsettling, cave-themed ambient piece consisting mostly of echoed synthesized ambient sounds that closely resemble those that play in the game's caves, resonating metallic clinks, and quiet wind blowing. The entire track is wholly engulfed in reverb. At different points in the piece, muffled bow firings, a heavily reverbed hiss followed by a subsequent heavily reverbed explosion and echoed splashes can be heard in the background. The track goes silent for 13 seconds at the 1:30 mark.
