Yeah, the Maffetone stuff is hard. Works great for some younger athletes. At 46 and with lifelong allergies I'm supposed to keep my heartrate below 129, but I feel the same easy run feeling up to around 139. Further 139 puts me in my Daniels E pace, but 129 means I'm trudging with bad form, unless the weather is cool. Some of these autumn days my MAF pace is my E pace, but I can push a little faster still feel easy, talking test and just being able to go for hours at a time. So I often weigh whether to stick with Daniels pace based model or Maffetone's heat rate based model. Logically they should overlap, but I lean more towards Daniels at my age and living in hilly Appalachia, where every 5k I enter has the same hills I run on every week.

Yup, the trabuco series is really impressive. I use the trabuco pro for training and racing, little more ’wet’ oriented but can go really fast in a comfortable way...

I have the first version of this shoe, the FujiTrabuco Lyte...and I really love that shoe...everything you talked about fits for that one too...they did some tweaking there, probably made it even better, which makes me very excited, cause I was afraid I wouldnt find the 1st version anywhere when it's time to replace them

Hi Seth, I am very interesting in your shoe reviews. After seen your Fuji Lite 2 review I bought this shoe for cross country races in Germany and Netherlands. Befor getting this nice shoe I ran in NB Competition 1500 v5/v6. Yesterday had my first race in the Fuji Lite 2 and finished with a new 5k personal record. And it was a muddy cross country race in the Netherlands. Many thanks helping me with the buying decition. Greets from Germany.

Received them last Thursday and had a 15km trailrun at an event Saturday. Did not have time to do a short run before, but worked ok. Really nice run but felt it after few kms below my calves. I think because of the lower drop? I run normally in the Novablast 2. Looking forward to do some more running in the Fuji when the muscle ache is gone :-).

EVO Speedgoat is off the market! Their contract with the upper material supplier was cancelled 😢 (no wonder, it’s Kevlar!) I’m surprised you didn’t also recommend the Salomon Ultra glide as an alternative. Thanks for the review as always!

Great review Seth. I ran Aherlow 50k this past weekend in the Trabuco Max, very happy with them, great grip on mixed surfaces, feet not sore or tired at all, and very little grit got into shoes despite that big funnel tongue 🤣 Really can’t recommend them highly enough, at €120 here in Ireland, good value. Good for training and racing like Seth says. The Fuji Lyte 2 looks great 👍 QD, we need a mini series drama based on Born To Run by Christopher McDougal.

QOD: A Maffetone channel 😂😂to show how to actually do it correctly and improve your aerobic function. I’ve set all kinds of PRs on it. My easy pace has improved by over two minutes and therefore my faster paces are faster than I have ever run and for longer distances.

I bought these immediately after watching you review! I was really hoping to like the Hoka Torrent 2 for faster days but the arches were too high and the toebox was too narrow for me. It also felt quite firm and I felt more than I would like underfoot especially on rocky descents. I have other Asics shoes and I love the fit as it accommodates a high volume midfoot so I'm hopeful..

QD: I would go the route of a TV network/channel that is strictly for all things endurance sports. Road racing, track, XC, triathlon, trail racing, mountain racing, ultras, informative/educational training and racing shows…….if it’s endurance racing/training related it would be on this channel!!! Asics a également une bonne gamme dans le domaine du trail, il n'y a pas que Salomon dans la vie. C'est une marque moins exclusive que Hoka (taille oversize et étroites) ; ou Altra (drop miminum). La qualité de l'amorti chez Asics n'est plus à démontrer, amorti moins souple que chez New Balance.Asics est une marque sécurisante en terme de maintien, controle et qualité de la semelle (très bonne adhérence malgré que pas Vibram). Juste un petit reproche, elles sont chaudes pour l'été (à par la Novablast qui est hyper ventilée). Je trouve que c'est une marque, qui, quand la chaussure est usée, est hyper confortable. 120€ pour la Fuji, c'est plus que correcte

Are they protective for technical trails after about two hours? I’m looking for a new trainer thats decently stable

@@doubles8993 The runs I've been doing in them are usually around 2-3 hours on technical trails with roots and rocks, and steep, rough old logging roads. There's no rock plate but I'm pretty light 135lbs/61kg and rarely ever feel hard impact from rocks or roots. My feet feel pretty fresh afterwards. They're not unstable but they are flexy with some stack height so if you like the way Asics rolls you through your gait you'll enjoy these.

I've got t'he Fuji trabuco lyte 1, and they were just perfect until t'he upper started to break after 100-150 miles running. Does Asics solved this on Fujitrabuco lyte 2?

Q: How do you keep the legs healthy when you transition through so many Drop differences between shoes? I feel like I need time to adapt to a new shoe if there's more than a 2mm or 4mm drop difference. For instance, I love 0mm drop Altras and these 4mm drop Fuji Lite 2s but if I venture into a 6mm or higher drop, my legs yell at me to slowly adapt.

Hey, I need quick advice: Fuji Lite 2 or Fuji Lite 3? I can pick one, price is the same. I'm askin' cuz I know newer model isn't always better than the older one. Foot is neutral, a little wider (fe took me some time to adjust to my Gel Venture 8). I run around 5-6 miles 3-4 times a week, started to get better times (losing weight in progress!) Help & thx! :)

Hi Seth. Congratulations for your 2001 Vlog. Amazing to see your progress. Thanks for the motivation. I have a question that maybe doesn`t belong in this vlog but it is confusing me. On November I will run my first marathon and I am very excited about it. I am a slow pacer. I would like to finish the Marathon in 4 Hours. I was very happy to buy the Endorphin Speed 1 because I saw very good reviews, especially from you. BUT.... I have the feeling that this shoe is meant to be for faster runners to fully activate the potentials that has. For me I can imagine it for a HM or 10Km. For longer distance and slow pace is to firm and I think that it will make me go faster than I can and I will get tired faster. Do you believe that Asics Novablast 2 or Hoka Mach 4 is better for a slow pace runner? Thanks for your work and amazing videos.

Go Novablast v2, or Zoom X Invincible, NB more V2, etc... Mach is not a comparable shoe

@@RowOfMushyTiT To tell you the truth I haven`t run so many km until now. I am only thinking what will give me the right amount of cushioning and also energy return. The Novablast 1 are already used. I have done a lot km with them. My feeling about all the racing shoes are meant to be for fast runners. To make more specific: When I make intervals (4min per Km) and wear the endorphin speed, they are amazing, but there is no way that I will run a marathon in 4min Pace. I have tried them in slower pace and I felt them firm. Middle October I will make a 20+ last long run and I will see what is the feeling.

What is the difference in hoka torrent 2 and fuhi lite 2 in cushioning. I like mor e cushioning. And I own torent 2 and I feel like there are not enough. I also want lightweight. So if it's a bit better than torrent 2 in cushioning they are worth it.

I'm hoping ASICS will ditch the shoe-lace bands, and revert back to normal shoe-lace holes. This takes me back to some shoes I had many years ago .... the friction of the shoe-lace eventually wears through the material loop through which it passes. I'm using some wax boot dubbing, smeared in and outside of these loops in the hope of reducing the friction, and therefore wear ..... Time will tell. Still, ASICS are making some great options presently .........

Everyone loves the Ultra Glide for the first handful of miles, but it hasn't been faring too well over the long term. People are saying that the cushion flattens out pretty quick.

So I just ran 1km in each and I am keeping the Asics. Salomon is tighter in midfoot. It also feels heavier (although just 15grams difference in favour of asics). Salomon have better transition from midfoot to toe, but the fit and feel are for ASICS, which is my chicken dinner today :)

I’ll say it again and I will keep saying it. Why are you reacting to $120 as if it was $75. Acting like it is ridiculous that they only put it at $120 and that is so cheap. Crazy to me. They don’t HAVE to charge that much, but they can because people are so used to paying so much.

did you ever look at ALL the "causes" like for example BLm that big companies like for example Nike donate millions of dollars too? If they passed a law that these huge businesses could not donate to any causes since they are not even representing their employees let alone their customers, the prices would comedown and we wouldn't have the corruption either. These huge companies donate millions and millions of dollars to thousands of causes. Some good and some bad, but all should stop.

Throw this shoe out right now. I got either a stress fracture or plantar plate tear. If you pull out the sock liner, the forefoot material in the W's broke down and creased under the knuckles after 300 miles or less, and provides no shock return to your joints. 4 months in this shoe sent me to the ortho. It feels good, it's grippy, the upper still looks fresh. You will get impact injuries though.
