Feet tend to swell after 10 miles. Depending on one's age, and fitness level, my thoughts would be to change out to a slightly larger more cushioned shoe mid race, if possible. You're fairly young and still have the advantage of that youth. I have never been a runner through the ages but enjoy walking and running enough to want to be out. Trail for myself. Better on the joints. Mind wants to do it, body says no. I do appreciate your honesty in evaluating from a runners perspective. Many shoes to choose from out there.

Good video, I have the old one and just purchased the Max 2, I think if they cut the outsole in half and let the midsole spread, it might be softer! Brook’s Cascadia 17 outsole!

Great video. How technical was the terrain in the Mississippi race? How stable was the shoe for that? I love everything about this shoe except when I go down steep terrain up here in MA it is very technical and I've rolled my ankle a few times. I want to use it for my 25K race coming up but that's the only thing holding me back so far.

Not too technical mostly dirt with some roots. The shoe was amazing for that. If it’s too technical doing down hill you may want a shoe with a lower stack height.
