Sorry but having bought one of the former Leopard 46s out of Moorings charter, maintenance is as needed. I.E. if it ain't broke, don't maintain it. Our sail drives had nice clean oil on top, when we changed the oil, we had to disassemble the drives and heat them with a torch to get the oil to flow out. The oil pans had to be scrapped out to clear the sludge. The winches probably were never greased and worked much better after a thorough clean and lube. At the end of the 5 years, we expected the sails to be shot and the electronics needing to be replaced. The boat will be well used and abused during that 5 year program and will require a refit to get it cruise ready. We expected that and were not disappointed. If you want a company that takes care of your boat, try a smaller company like TMM. All the best from a former owner of a former charter boat.

I looked into charter ownership a few years ago. My concern in 2018 was that the resale value of the boat was not guaranteed. Back then the estimated resale value of a 40 ft mono was expected to be $180,000 I see those boats selling for $100,000 today as they exit the fleet. Makes me glad I didn’t go that route 5 years ago as you would take a huge beating selling the boat after 5 years of charter ownership today. If the resale value was guaranteed It would take the risk out of this approach to ownership.

This is tangential I know but I have to cringe hard every single time I hear someone obediently refer to the China Virus as "Covid".
