A lot of questions revolve around your favorite X. However, my question is: Are there any items in your shop that you resent having to have/use or just begrudgingly keep around?
@LeonardChurch33

Hey Adam, you may have answered this somewhere before but, do you have or have you had any tools that you wish you'd never acquired? Whether they were too expensive, ruined too many projects or had some other critical flaw that made their continued existence in your shop untenable.

Love this series, and I greatly enjoyed Every Tool's a Hammer -- in particular the section about list-making. I've long made my own "brain dumps," and I think it'd be fascinating to see how Adam organizes and arranges his own -- is it in an app, a notebook, steno pad, what's it look like, what sections does he use, etc. Maybe a future Ask Adam?

I have an unusual question Adam: As a wheelchair user and an aspiring maker, makes organising tools and stuff an extra challenge. If you were stuck in a wheelchair, what do you think you'd do differently in your workshop or any organising solutions you can think of? since wheelchair users like myself would have trouble to utilise vertical space efficiently, cables become more of a safety issue than an annoyance etc,

They are bare metal cast iron 4 post frame , so as not to tip over and are very , very comfortable. I always said that old objects are better and were made better and right . 1 day build of jack sparrows compass please Adam ax want to do one my self . I have a very interesting theory on the way the original was made being a cabinet maker/ joiner

I have a question Adam: how would you fix an aluminum MacBook’s finish? I have a 2011, I think, MacBook Air that somehow has a small gouge (for want of a better word.) It is probably less that a centimeter deep and kind of rough in texture. If need be I can send you a picture via twitter or something. I imagine something like rub and buff might help, but I don’t know what would fill the scratch/gouge. Any thoughts? I’m only asking because I thought it might be a good and quick teaching moment for hobbyists who are looking to restore things such as this. #askadamsavage (don’t know if I need that, but hey-I’ll do it anyway.)

Adam: The reason why this stool has survived so long is that in the old days equipment was made to last longer than the 5 year accounting periods we now have. But if you want some really good stools and chairs, look at dentistry furniture. My dentist has some with special arm rests for doing precise work and her assistant has one which can be used in something like 4 positions thanks to an off-center back rest post.

i mean judging from the color of the leather, or whatever the stool was wrapped in, i can already tell it is an older medical stool because they switched to greys and light blue colors probably during my lifetime, circa 1990s. when i was younger i remember seeing these but now i hardly see any, and to be honest things made before probably the 60s-70s were just plain made better. IMO it is because the phrase "planned obsolescence" didn't gain popularity until this time and although it was meant to inform buyers, it ended up creating more industry exploiters rather than honest builders. so much for "supply and demand."
