Is it possible to go from nearly zero sperm to higher than 39mil? How long would that take? If not, while the chances of pregnancy are super SUPER low, is there still a chance at all?

Yes. It is possible. If a man has been exposed to a virus, severe stress, acute illness, then the sperm gets affected. The count can go down to zero and then after 2-3 months go back to normal. If the sperm count is nearly zero, there is always a chance but we're talking about < 2% if it's close to zero count.

@@EggWhisperer Thanks for the fast reply! We're going to a Urologist in August or September (depends on DH) and then will most likely have a second SA done. If some crazy miracle of nature happens in the mean time, we'll be thrilled but we're assuming we have quite a road ahead of us. IVF is so expensive that we may be at the end of the line. We'll see.

@@heidihernandez4428 You're welcome :) If his sperm is super low: chromosome analysis, Y chromosome microdeletion, hormone levels, Carrier screen, and scrotal ultrasound. See if you can get that info ahead of your visit with the urologist to make the visit as efficient as possible.

What happens when sperm has a hockey stick type sperm but also so has some good swimmers? Is that something that can be helped?

if morphology is abnormal, then you can use IVF with ICSI. It isn't unusual to try a few IUIs first then see if you can get pregnant without IVF. It will depend on your age and family size goals.

I am 32 years old. My urine test is positive. And my beta hcg test is more 3000. I have also developed OHSS after my fertility treatment. It was moderate and the condition is ok. Still my sonography is not done coz it's too early to be seen . Can u tell me that am I pregnant?

If your hcg level is over 3000 this means you are pregnant.

Gonna HIPPO a little here as I haven't finished the video yet. This was bugging me. I know this is old but I hope you realize by now that the MeToo movement isn't about womens' health. It's about coming forward about sexual harassment and sexual assault. While I believe you're right in saying men need a movement too and that "MeToo" should also apply to men as they are also capable of being victims in this way, I believe this means something entirely different from what you think it means. Yes, mens' health is important and a movement getting our boys to take care of themselves would be great.

I’m not sure how the “me too” movement has anything to do with male and female infertility. I really appreciate this video because as my husband and I are seeking fertility help there is not a lot of information when the problem is male factor. Thank you Dr Aimee for including Dr Turic into this topic. It is very helpful.
