Asleep on the asphalt: Workers risking lives by ignoring road rules

Some migrant workers are putting their safety at risk on the roads. While spending time together in the evenings, they relax by sitting in groups in traffic lanes near their dormitories. In one case, a worker was seen asleep on the asphalt.

Most of them came from the rural villages and the only wheeled vehicles back home were bullock carts. And, the cattle will not run over a drunk human being.

Aiyo, never even listen carefully....it's after working hours, they were fetched to their dormitories, their rest hours....but it's their own free will to leave their dormitories n have fun in the open near by.....tats our human freedom rights...

You'll see more sleeping on the roadside on pay day. They drink till they drop on the roadside.

It's got to do with the worker and not the country they're in. After payday, they drink till they're stoned. Then pass out and are found in deep sleep on the roadside.

These workers deserve better 😢, much better. They work really hard every day, in horrible conditions, why can’t they have a nice space to hangout in? With air con!

Their dormitories r so much better than our local Singaporean homes....wat else u want? They r here to earn a living not tourists u know? Btw do your country provide dormitories? R they so well facilitated? Or the foreign workers need to find their own shelter on their own?

anyone notice its only the indian workers that do not realise how dangerous it is to sleep halfway on the road? u dont see the prc workers or malaysians or even the filipino maids that doesnt seems to know that, i have yet to encounter one at 2am lieing on the sidewalk like its their sweet sweet bed at home..... i guess the PAP government should provide more inflatable air mattresses from decalthon along the road to ensure our beloved fts have a place to lay their weary heads after drinking 4 bottles of kingfisher.

Tats their own home town bad habits tat the bring over here to practise..... Back in India, their cows r king of the road....then their Indian people....hence very few vehicle.... And they tot other countries r the same like India....they r king of the road....
