Can confirm did aurum vale as healer first and tank 2nd 2 days ago. Just made the switch from wow after 1t years of off and on being a tank and healer..its not difficult. Heard much about it and how people didn't like it/ot was hard..but it really wasn't. The only time I've had any panic so far was when I forgot to put warrior soulstone in Brayflox. Felt bad for the healer, and Drazmael Darkhold as healer. That place made me learn how to manage mana and heal more efficiently with AoE.

It's because people go through a lot of the same dungeons pretty consistently from the roulettes. So as a Tank, you're incentivized to get as many people in a group as possible because you have more than enough skills to handle it while the DPS gets their wall of damage numbers going. Generally, pulling around two groups at a time is reasonable, but 3 or 4 is doable if you really know what you're doing. It's also just kind-of more effecient in general because then you can get all the big damage within your defensive skill windows before they wear off. I mean, as always, it's nice to make sure the group is up for this and to feel out how strong your healer is, but generally speaking, nobody really wants to take 30-45 minutes on an easy dungeon like this every time. People want to get through it and move on to the next thing. That's where the real meta comes in, because if you can blast into a group of 30 dudes and make that work then you're doing great! No offense to Asmon, he's learning and he's doing what he's comfortable with, but I'd hate to roll this dungeon and get stuck with a guy who just pulls a few people at a time. You can take on so much more than that even without Rampart this early in the game, no need to waste everyone's time like that. It's honestly fine.

Only crackheads can play those as you consistently have to try to fit in 2-3 skills inside your 2.5 GCD while getting dicked by mechanics 😂 feels like a faster BM hunter without the procs

It was probably only instant because so many people were queueing at the same time as him lol. Normally I have to wait about 5 minutes for tank, but almost all my healer queues are instant.

Until Endwalker when Sage is released - then back to the tank queue being the quickest.

Welcome to ffxiv, it might not be what you're used to, but if you give it some time and dedication you might just like it. It does start out slow as you can tell but it definitely picks up the higher level you are.

Wall to wall pull - pop Rampart - depending on dungeon, maybe a weaker like Arm's Length/Reprisal if the pack won't be dead before Rampart falls off - next pack, next heavy mitigation/repeat. When spaced out properly, you'll never be without some sort of mitigation, whether it be on a trash pull or boss.

The only reason he hasn't found the need to use rampart in pulls is because he's only doing single pulls which doesn't do that much damage to him so he didn't feel the need to use it as much (which is fine as it is the first dungeon and it's his only mitigation). Once he gets to lv22 when he learns reprisal that's the best time to learn wall to wall since his party would have access to more AoE spells and he can start shuffling between rampart and reprisal during big pulls.

Don't worry we spam 3-4 abilities max in pve in wow till we get to the end content or unless we're pvp'ing, I'm sure he won't notice it. I'm worried about the gameplay mechanics tho, it seems a bit linear or static, idk which word is more appropriate.

The man plays with an entire oversized action bar of abilities he clicks on wow, his UI's are not meant for fragile eyes, that's forsure.

He does it so he can annoy people 😂 he knows how to keep chat interested and engaged

@@CodeeXD thats just how the game is. you have to remember arr is the one that added the most quests per patch. and even cut down its about 15 quests per patch.. where now it tends to be around 10 quests per patch. so with mandatory ct its still around 90 quests to finish patches 2.1-2.5. but when you look at it logically.. its only 15 quests per patch which is much more managable and bite sized. but yeah. now that its all at once is more overwhelming.

I wasted more time doing mindless fetch and kill quests than actually understanding why my toon is in this world and if he has a purpose larger than just being a peon, excuse me, champion... We're still talking about the first few levels, and trust me, it will get much, much better. Take it from someone who has every job in FFXIV maxxed out and (so far) 5 of them with endgame relic weapons.

There's a big popup in the middle of your screen every time you level high enough for a new job quest telling you to go do it for new skills/gear. Of course, this eventually starts being a _lie_ in SB when they removed skills from most of the job quests...

FF14 really is a completeley new experience in MMO-Gaming if you only know WoW and such. I only played it to Lvl 63 or so as a Druid (i guess) last year, but all the story and so was such a delight. Sadly my RL-duties took over and i stopped playing it.

Its more at the lolis than anything else, lol.

He only really seems to hate the Lalas, which to be fair is shared resentment. He seems to like the Miqo' if they aren't naked.

Once he realizes that tanks in this game are at the mercy of their healers he will understand his role. Also he is at the mercy of the dps as well, cause if your dps sucks the healer wastes mana and you’ll wipe the tank and everyone will follow. Essentially the team dynamic is this game is very strong and everyone works together. No one is the big hitter and no one carries the team.

@@sagen06 The doom in qarn can't be cleansed by the healer and you have to stand on a platform, unless you're suggesting the healer carries him. If I was a healer I'd just let him die and learn because I don't even think you need a tank on that boss because it hits like a noodle.

Nah, Ion is ok. You have to understand the pressure the devs are under bc of Activision. The entire problem is the activision boardroom that sets impossible expectations on the devs.

FFXIV has always stuck to that. What a lot of people don’t realize is that the guy you see in the FFXIV trailers (he’s a Paladin in the Endwalker trailer) is the canon WoL and the trailer representation of the player character. You are the central figure and the hero of the story.

FF14 has been stupidly fun since A Realm Reborn. The original 1.0 or whatever was absolute dog shit, but I'll be damned if SE didn't make the biggest effort to make 2.0 a success, and it shows even years later.
