Yeah but it is a very different thing in FF14. In FF14 you can watch yourself making progress and fixing minor mistakes. This is pure progression raiding and he actually enjoyed it a lot it seems.

Better than my first clear, where the only reason we won was that the dots happened to finish off the last bit of her health before the screen finished fading to black. And thus eight dead bodies "won" and Garuda was vanquished.

I truly believe WoW is as toxic as it is because it pushes its players to expect toxicity, like as a normal thing just being angry at the game and every other player. FF just engenders less salt, so people are less salty playing it.

I stumbled on him a year or 2 ago, and was enjoying watching him for a bit, but then started to see that he was actually pretty damn toxic, so I stopped following him and unsubbed. I was skeptical of how he'd take to FFXIV because of that, but after watching up to this point, he's just having a blast and it shows, and he's not really being toxic (maybe a little crass, but that's not really a bad thing), and he's just having a lot of fun with it. I'm really glad to see him enjoying the game, and excited to see him continue.

Pretty sure healers saved the clear run with full heals + shields from the spiny plume explosion while tanks were oblivious, lol. The unsung heroes of many a raid.

@@0332288 Never done raids as a healer but i know in EQ there is some raid that require a cleric complete heal chain for like 45 minutes, and clerics have no benefits from the raid

@@BerraLJ Yep. I'm a healer main as i believe it to be the hardest carrying role in raids. In both dps and salvaging from wipes, a healer can turn things around on their own. (Well except ultimates lol)

@@SaltyGround He isn't really toxic, if he seems toxic that's because that's his stream personality. His off-stream personality is showing a lot more when he plays FFXIV, and since he was streaming for roughly 7 hours before the Extreme trial, it starts to show when he gets more tired.

@@kennylee12313 the "toxicity" comes from him organizing hardcore pve content, and people who were supposed to be veterans, start dying to basic things(check his stream from the latest wow raid), he calls this ppl out on stream for them to get their shit together, yet you can see that when the game lets him know that there's new player he's very understanding of them.

So that's one thing wow has going for it over ff14 at least. People also have an emotional attachment to wow, at least partially due to the sunk cost fallacy (as in I've spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours in this game, why would I give it up?). Anyway I'd prefer it if people refrain from constantly trying to dissuade people from playing wow. It only builds resentment towards the ff14 community. Promote ff14 all you want, but shutting on wow players just makes people look like dicks.

TBH Titan EX was only that awful because the netcode/everyone's internet was worse back then. Improvements with the FFXIV servers and just infastructure since then make Titan EX less disastrous.

@@TheSweetSpirit Oh no definitely, but even to this day when I've dragged sprouts through it synced Titan EX remains one of the harder ARR EX fights for newer players to understand. I still rate Ramuh as the most painful of all the EX fights though, with Levi being a closer second.

​@@randomperson-sn4rj Yeah. i'm mostly speaking from the experience of dragging new sprouts through it. None of the EX fights are particularly rough synced, with maybe the exception of Ramuh. I consider Shiva one of the easiest EX fights to explain in ARR, with Garuda being the easiest. Those two fights are way simpler to explain on positioning and movement than any of the other extremes in my honest opinion

I wish I could say the same about my Ramuh EX mount. I could never find a group coordinated enough to beat it legit, so to clear the quest for my log, I had to run it solo, unsynced one time... and the mount just happened to drop. It was a bittersweet thing, since I didn't feel like I'd earned it all, despite suffering through dozens of attempts with various groups, both as a Healer and a Tank.

Honestly, the sense of accomplishment is more fun this way.

Niiice.. keep going. it gets better.. a LOT better. You'll find the music helps a lot. The musical director is a genius and he well knows how and when to put motivation in. You almost learn to watch for that as a mechanic.

He didn't learn though, the raid practically carried him, as he was still fuckin up mechanics. Full of people who have done the fight and some who have ultimate clears.

As someone that switched to ffxiv right before 9.1 dropped I've gotta say, ffxiv has been an absolute blast and actually makes me want to get on and play daily. I reccomend at least trying the free trial and seeing how you feel

When I saw him insult half of the mounts in the game, I admit, I was kinda irritated (that vid was also one of my first times watching him). But after watching him stream more, I don't think he really thought they were trash; I think that was just his "asshole" persona. Seeing him play the game now, I think we're seeing more of the "real" him, which is rather heartwarming, actually. Hope he keeps enjoying the game! (And I'm sure he will, since the following expansions only get better and better)

@@avaricsymphorian To be honest, all the hate for horse mounts is from WoW having too many of them, but just recolors with different shades and tints. Or put 1 more horn and call it a different mount etc.

The horses are nice to have and getting Kirin is an accomplishment. Though i never use Kirin because i hate the annoying noise the wings make while flying.

True. But let's not act as if clearing a savage raid, let alone the extreme version, on your first week of play is not impressive.

@@mappybc6097 took me a long time to actually attempt a savage trial. The hardest I did until now was probably Hades Savage. Is there any universal opinion on what the hardest savage trial is?

@@Manslayer-eo1nh I don't think there is. Everyone has their own issues with some mechanics. A lot of it depends on the party you're running with, though. Ultimately every extreme/savage fight in the game is a lesson in choreography. Your success depends entirely on how well everyone remembers the "dance", where their position is and how to coordinate who does what on randomized parts. Also, please, it's a little confusing. :) Trials have "extreme" difficulty, as opposed to normal (or "hard", which is really "normal" anyway). Raids have "savage" difficulty. And then there are "ultimate"s which can be trials and raids. TBH, though, I've no idea why SE named trials and raids differently. :) They're pretty much same concept, just straight up platform with a boss to kill...

Ya it's one of the things that makes extreme trial mount grinding worth it. Not only do you get a cool mount for getting all of a set (meaning all ponies for example) you also get to hear your favorite boss themes anytime you want

asmon needs to try and find more sprouts to raid with. having a bunch of legends who've beaten TEA kinda just diminishes the experience.

Sprouts mean nothing for the most part. I mean I've been playing for well over a year. Can't play much so haven't beaten the full story. But like I've done every raid/trial several times for my current progress. Sure not every sprout will. But it sticks around for a while.

@@BM03 there are a myriad of diffences between trials and raids in XIV. That’s a fact. Shows your ignorance on the matter. Trials are stripped down mechanic, duration, and intensity compared to the raid counter parts.

I think it was one of his videos talking about FFXIV and WoW that FF has a lot of redemption in its story and steering players to a more positive energy, whereas WoW is a lot of 'Kill the bad guy!!!' and breeds a more hostile energy. The few vids I've seen of his regarding both games going from vitriol and spite when talking about WoW, to eagerness and joy as he plays through FF, I would say you have made a correct assessment.

The only unfair he has atm is vs Thancred. I can't tell if that's "Asmondurr" being stupid, or Zack, about Thancred's situation when they explained what happened right after the whole incident at the Castrum Occidens (Rescue mission).

@@nekogami87 You kill them in a certain order and the king gets spells/buffs depending on which moogles are killed and in which order (different order will make it harder since the king will be able to use different spells). At least, that's how I recall it.

@@dra6o0n you can use a gaming mouse as well for maximum comfort. I cannot play without my mouse; it has 12 buttons so with just my thumb I can play any class XD

@@dra6o0n @dra6o0n I do the same thing as you. 123 for basic rotation and 4 for ranged. The keys on the mouse are used exactly like keybinds; they don't map to a skill, they map to a particular key combo. So instead of actually pressing ctrl 1 or shift 2, I press a single button on my mouse. So when I switch jobs I just map the skills as usual.

To be fair, for the average player, finding 7 people new or old willing grind an ARR EX at min item lvl is going to be a tall order. People drop party if they get just a level synced EX in roulette after all. That's why I think the unreal trials were such a good idea.

@@xRagnarok05x yeah man. min item lvl alone is crazy let alone finding people. i did it synced with pf but without the min ilvl and echo on. but because our gear were still synced (i am guessing) ilvl 130, we still got our ass kicked. all ARR ex trails still kick your ass if you go synced

Search for: FFXIV Ultima Theme - part 2. One of my personal favourites :). Same song plays in the Extreme version of that fight. Cannot wait to see Asmon beat that on min ilvl PS: I like to think that as the actualy canonical fight against Ultima Weapon, because that is more like the nightmare machine we saw one shotting all the primals with ease.

Garuda has one of my favorite boss themes in a vacuum. But what I love most is how incredibly well ALL of the themes fit the boss. Example: While I didn't like Suzaku's theme, its just such a perfect match for the character.

Yeah, I love that the primal mounts play their battle theme when you ride them.
