Imagine allowing Kansas citizens to sue their neighbor because they vacationed in Colorado to smoke weed legally. That effectively takes the rights away from the states where it is legal.

Yes, definitely. I mean, this is really important, especially when the decision about abortions is up to the states. So, state X doesn't want abortions. Okay, now this is their decision, but they must make it easier for people to adopt, otherwise the kids that the state must take care about will just rise and rise. And, as OP said, there are millions of people who want to adopt and can't. The process takes a long time to make sure someone has a hard time being negligent with the child’s safety. I wish there was a better way for children to be adopted but unless we are ok with a few more child murders or molesters a week we should keep that process arduous and thorough. Most biological parents aren’t really fit or ready to have children so what standard should be out on would be parents trying to take on that responsibility?

Flip side of that argument. If the process wasn't so hard to adopt, someone might adopt a kid and harm him/her in any number of ways, phycologically, physically or emotionally. It would be wonderful if that wasn't the case, but the threat of such things and the wellbeing of the children need to take precedence. Rather than adoption more people should look into being foster care parents to give children good homes and moral values as they await adoption or come of age given the system is as dysfunctional it is. They may not have children to claim as their own legally, but they would touch the lives of many more children for the better. Also, for some unknown reason becoming a foster caretaker is an easier process than actually adopting a child for some ungodly reason.

Should I be able to murder my spouse if they’re abusive? Should I be able to steal food if I’m poor? Having more options to a solution is not always the correct answer. The answer to most of those questions is the wrong one. And that’s how people feel about the abortion issue. One of the solutions is immoral to them and want it removed.

While morality is important it is a thing that differs from person to person. It can't be trusted. You can't run a red light if you're in a hurry as a normal person BUT you can do so at your and other people's peril or at risk of being stopped by police. Conversely, police, ambulances and firetrucks can run a red light because lives depend on them and they are equipped to warn drivers that they are in an emergency state. You can not murder your spouse if they're abusive but you can sue them if you collect proof of on-going abuse. Yet, if your abusive spouse were ever to lounge at you with a weapon and you killed her in self-defence you would be able to kill them and, proven the situation, be free to move on with your life. The thing is the system is imperfect and right now such a thing as proving when a life begins or other matters like if we have souls or if there are Gods are very outside of our power so we are limited in this but it'd be reckless to just discard an option only because of morality. I think it's kind of obvious that it's assumed some states will automatically outlaw it once it gets repealed. So in that sense the court became a legislative body who can decide to outlaw it in some states.

Yea but it seems like most law has some basis in morality, so I don't think you can just say morals shouldn't be made in to laws. Like maybe not all morals need to be codified into law, but saying morals shouldn't be made into law isn't even 95% right, more like 5% right.

Lying is immoral, we all agree to this, but there are no laws against it unless it is a breech of contract or under oath. Cheating on your spouse is immoral, also not against the Law. Like he said 95% of immoral things we do as humans are lawful.

You have to look at the original ruling in Roe. The argument was that the 14th amendment IMPLIED the right to abortion. This court said in their examination of the 14th they found no such right and abortion is a matter that should be settled by the legislatures and states.

I’m pro life, but I do agree that it should’ve been a law or it shouldn’t have. Now that it’s repealed there’s a huge mess and legal confusion. If we had been decisive we would have avoided this whole mess.

There has never been a moment where a law like that would have passed. Even if Obama could have somehow managed it, we probably wouldn’t have had the ACA.

@@TheHauntedKiwi Uh no, the government DOES NOT include the states. Federal Government, State Government, and Local Government are all sovereign entities. This is government 101. Slavery is literally outlawed by the Constitution, in the 13th amendment. Abortion is not in the Constitution; therefore, it is kicked down to State government to decide. If a law is not determined by the state government, it is kicked down to the local government. It's amazing how ignorant people are of how the governments residing in the US work. United States Federal Government =/= New York State Government =/= New York City Government.

Voting is pointless in most states anyway. Whether you're republican, democrat, or independent. I live in Indiana and we are always republican, so my vote doesn't matter, for example
