People say Zyzz was a bad example but lets be honest, how many of the fitness influencers we have today abuse PEDS to get (guess what): fame, attention, money, sponsors, trophies? Its so sad that right when he decided to change his dangerous way of life it was already too late. Nowadays "being a nerd" is way more accepted and with how entertaining Zyzz was he would have so many opportunities, thinking about that its truly saddening

Yeah it's hard for others to appreaciate how much of an influence he had, I was in highschool in Sydney around the time he was popular and his videos/language/memes would be part of daily highschool life, the haircut being something of an icon for the lad/emo cross over kids, there used to be this divide between us but the hardcore/gabber scene seemed that bring in the lads and scene kids to the same festivals and mix together, it truly was a wild time, I was a scene kid through and through, most EDM I got into was Skrillex shit so I always saw Zyzz as a lad but in hindsight he played WoW like me and I was also THE skinniest kid in my year so I kinda resonate with this and feel for him more after watching this, crazy what time does..

Was in school at that time too, very into the metal/emo scene, skinny af, etc. Never got into the trance/EDM/hardstyle stuff that much tho, was more into metal/hardcore and going to gigs at local youth centres around Syd. He had the exact same influence on me and my circle that you described too. We'd mimic his phrases and mannerisms more in a troll/ironic way which is probably what he intended anyway. Was in the middle of HSC period when he passed and man it shook us a fair bit. Had a few mutual mates with Chestbrah too so made it a lot more real. Even today all these years later, watching some old vids flings me back to those years and really hits the feels.

I'm 30, played WoW since vanilla more or less as a PvPer. I started gymming exactly 3 years ago and it changed my life SO MUCH. I gym 5 days a week and fell in love with calisthenis as I was losing weight. I started at 120 kg / 189 cm tall and went down to 90 kg in only 12 months and now just slowly getting stronger and fitter while staying around 88-90 kg. I'm in the best shape of my life after being kinda overweight for most of my 20's :) Never postpone your health. It starts today. Also, stay away from drugs! Nerds can be fit!

Zyzz is a sad story, but I think an important one. He got a bunch of people into the gym which honestly is great. Lots of people look to him for inspiration and his legacy lives on now. God knows, I'm only in such good shape cause of Zyzz memes back in the day. It is a reminder though of what's important in life. Even if steroids weren't what killed him, I think it is important to consider how bad drugs and PED can be. Almost all bodybuilders right now use it and just don't talk about it, I'm glad Zyzz at least was willing to say "yeah I do it" instead of lying to an impressionable audience like most guys online. He realized what he was doing wasn't where he wanted to be and tried to get out of it and I think that is commendable. Heartbreaking he never managed to. Dude was a legend, it's on us to carry on what he started.

Instead he is glorified for his body and his "aesthetics" which he got from steroids, everything you said contradicts his fanbase completely, they all have body dysmorphia which just leads to steroid use and eventually the sad outcome that had happened to zyzz.. Like even in my personal life, when I ask my friends why was zyzz so great? They ask he lived life to the fullest before dying, to which I think, what? He left behind distraught parents and a brother that cared about him, giving up your life for simply steroids is never worth it

@@shadowtale123 I won't disagree wit most of that. I think way too many people got caught up in his looks and basically bought into the shallowness of it. Guys laugh at the things he would say to women about them being only liking him cause he was ripped, but they're basically exactly the same, they just don't want to sleep with him. I do think that it's not all just body dysmorphia and nerds wishing they were him though. Zyzz got a bunch of people just into regular working out, no steroids or anything. We're All Gonna Make It is such a meme, but I think it describes a lot of the appeal. Zyzz was a loser playing WoW who managed to get confident and get ripped because he actually tried and anyone can if they put in the effort. That's the appeal and that's why he's beloved.

Zyzz got me and my college roomates into lifting in 2011. Although I don't condone/agree, based on his attitude, I think early death worked to immortalize him. He inspired a generation to be fit and didn't live to see the days where influencers become the villain or get caught up in the newest trend. He didn't live long enough to tarnish his own "air of invincibility" (Ironic wording, I know). His spirit will live on for generations and he'll always be remembered for the good he did.

I never knew this guy. I started going to the gym and taking it seriously to lose 20 lbs. Never wanted to be a body builder as I was more attracted to the idea of widening my chest and keeping my waste small. My friend was a big boy, knew he needed to work out, but could never do it. I brought him the gym once to get him started (I am a terrible gym partner) and told him his results are up to him. For 6 months he made no progress. Then suddenly he got into a health kick referencing Zyzz. I thought it was dumb but hey motivation is motivation. Now he has lost 70lbs and I could not be more prouder. And I believed Zyzz saved this mans life.

I have freakish strength. It's led to me being a sort of "gentle giant", I wouldn't want to actually hurt someone. But that's the sad truth, I think it's genetic bone density or an adrenaline chemical imbalance. I've bumped into people before and caused them to bruise and broken things from grabbing them without proper focus or attention. I struggle with it on a daily basis and wonder how my body will be affected from it in the future.

I personally call it "destructive motivation". Whenever you do something to run away from something, you'll never be happy and will never get enough. Like, when people are making money just to not be poor, they will never stop at anything, and exactly because of these cases there is saying "money spoil the people". Because, they have no understanding what they actually gonna do with these money. And same with fame. Same with anything: sports, gaming, relationships, etc. Because when people are getting to some point they've set as goal in this way, and see it didn't bring them happiness, they simply think it should be more. But when you do something with exact understanding why, you'll never appear in this situation. In other words always move towards something, not away from something.

I've been around a while and maybe with the exception of overweight, I've never met a person fixated on sculpting/altering/marking their body, however they do it, who I'd consider "together". In fact I find that it's invariably an expression of a troubled person. If you find yourself in this position, take my advice if you can: There is no solution in regarding your physical form a manifestation of a "hole in your soul". It can serve as a catalyst for positive change because it makes you go to new places, meet new people and do different things. But if you think about it, those things are actually counter points to your fixation, so why not go straight to the source instead? Obsessions are generally not healthy and will only serve to block your personal growth, because their perceived substance simply isn't there. You're not actually solving, you're avoiding. Lift your gaze and look outwards. Do and be interested in many things. If you can't think of any, search for them. Integrate yourself and be patient. Reality is far too complex for anyone to be able to predict or conclude. Slowly, as your circumstances and perspectives change, and they will change, things have a tendency of sorting themselves out. New questions, doubts and problems will come, but you'll get better at accepting and solving them. And don't ever forget; life is a bitch for everyone. Many people specialize in making it seem like it's not, but the truth of it is that worldly existence is painful and hard. Perpetual happiness and eternal bliss is not compatible with the makeup of reality and the human psyche, and is therefor a logical impossibility and a lie. From misery is born joy and vice versa. If you stay with it, you'll have plenty of both. The pendulum keeps swinging, and there is no alternative. Somewhere down the line you may find that the mere fact that you're experiencing it all, is kind of a miracle.
