LOL I'm sad for my SCH, always getting nerfed to the ground. It started good but then just became a sad class. Played the class since it came out and after doing the early lvl 80 end game stuff I decided to switch to WHM. However, I noticed that SCH is better than WHM at lvl 70 and under for 8+ parties, healing wise that is. Monk got a pretty good fix so there is hope.

We complained that we didn't even have a jump button in 1.0, we got it when they destroyed the game it rose back like a phoenix from the ashes.

@@b6q584 to be fair, any game like WoW that has been developed for as much as it has been usually has a lot of content systems in it. Even FFXIV is like this. The only things that matters are whether those content systems are fun to do and how mandatory they are. If they are not fun and are required content, they become tedious chores that people do not like doing but are forced to slog through. Imagine if those activities you call fiddling around were actually fun to you. You would be singing a different tune. Why? Because you would be having *fun,* and the "tediousness" of it would be largely irrelevant to you. But you don't find those fun so the tediousness rears its ugly head like it should. Sadly, this is how WoW has been for so many years that people are fed up with it.

I agree. FF14, BDO, even Valheim is more engaging that WOW at the moment. It's sad to see a game I really enjoyed playing being so boring.

Be careful, you will be spoiled by FF14, and not able to get back into wow's grindfest even if you are bored by FF's content-drought

Well, so far only real WOW killer is Blizzard. SE doesn't even need to do much except for keeping up the good job. Just make Endwalker as good as other Expansions were and keep up on QoL updates, new content, fixing bugs, improving experience. If this will continue, Blizzard will loose more and more players. Blizzard team wants players to be involved in their game. SE team wants players to have fun in their game. like srsly, until couple of days ago I didn't even tried treasure hunting and Deep Dungeons in FFXIV. Game just didn't forced me to do them.

And right now WOW bleeds players terribly and with how much content there is in free trial in XIV, it's very easy to get new players in. And with popular streamers going to FF, there's also high chance that many players can also want to give game a shot. They don't even have to buy the game - free trial is large enough. Then, if people would like the game, they can buy it. This is way more generous than WOW and subscription fee is much lower as well.

@@TheVitor677 I actually left WoW because contrary to popular opinion it isn’t very casual friendly anymore. Actually quite the opposite the main game it’s self leveling etc is pretty much pointless. All the side content mainly happens at max level and it’s tied to player power. The only fun in the game mainly comes from raiding. And systems designed to strengthen your character for raiding.

There was also a player appreciation period in FFXIV awhile back with a quest that your character could go on where at it's end, you were transported to a space with an in game representation of Yoshi-P. He, and a few other characters that represented the dev team, then thanked your character and you for your support. I'll never forget it because it really did make me feel like I was appreciated at my keyboard and in the game space as well.

Most of the key people who made WoW a success left over the years after they got bought by Activision. The team as it is now seems almost ashamed of the things I enjoyed back then. Not that I had the nostalgia for Vanilla, I remember all the problems. But when a lot of people would rather play that than current WoW it says something.

I’ve played wow since the end of wrath as an average player. A lot of the free time I had was due to only being in high school or college. And that allowed me to do most content weekly etc. the last expansions I truly had fun and put all my time and attention in, and had the most fun was cata, mop, and lastly legion. It’s also a product of simpler times in my life, but also the game just being more enjoyable for me. These last few expansions have consisted of playing for a month or so on and off until finally canceling my subscription. It’s been at the loss of having other friends to play with that have moved on, having a good consistent guild to play with. And just having an enjoyable time while logged on. It’s not the same anymore and that’s ok, it’s just a shame that it’s gone in a poor direction and not due to an Individual moving on

@@stevenscholz8978 You're right. My own personal experiences with either of the games does not define their communities. But those are the only bases I can judge the games on. My personal experience and other people's stories. I might be just reinforcing a stereotype or something but sharing these kinda stories is what might make someone else also pick up the game. I'm advocating for the game, based on personal experience, in the hopes that others will have fun as well. I think one of the best WoW personal experiences that were ever shared was Barny's story about how two of the most hardcore guilds on a server in opposing factions agreed to exchange their best pvp players to kill freeloading players for them. I can not even imagine a better story that players can experience. They did that just by playing the game, and it couldn't have happened in anything other than WoW. But when that story is surrounded by 9 others where "someone got salty and no one had fun", "i derive pleasure from others' misery" or "no one else can do this, because only people like me have the clout and/or resources". While those stories can be fun to watch it doesn't make me want to play the game and when on top of that the time I did try it I was met by those people who make their fun on other people's expense multiple times; then that's as far as my personal experience with the game will go. I do love to hear stories about the game, people can still choose whichever game suits them most and I can edit my comment to include that everything I'm saying is based on personal experience, but I stand by what I said.

Wow is different experience from FF and I agree that probably people in FF are more positively aligned because we feel that devs are really trying to make content for us fun and engaging and that getting into that content should be a reward on itself. Like - getting to Savage raid to see Boss' new Super-Final Form that isn't there normally and beat it is already rewarding in on itself. And then you know that you're doing content because you want to do it and not because you have to do it, otherwise you'll be too far away from everyone. This (and not only this, but I won't add more to keep things brief) and actual control from GMs where openly toxic players can be easily reported and in case of claim being true, will be actually punished, creates an understanding, that bad behavior is not accepted - people won't tolerate assholes in FFXIV. At the same time positive behaviour is endorsed by ingame system - you are helpful to random players in dungeon - they may give you commendation (this doesn't work to static party - you can only commend players who were grouped by Duty Finder so you cannot simply commend each other if you go with the friend or a person who would agree to help you in the dungeon because queue is too large). And because grind isn't super bad - you can relatively easily get everything you need with reasonable time and effort investment (except for Relic Grind or buying house or fashion - true endgame all things considered) there is no real reason to not help somebody who needs help. Because, again, you're not really forced to do it. I can, as well, say that yes, FFXIV definitely has some good and bad players. But for around 400 hours I'm yet to find openly toxic team. Worst we had was on Ramuh Extreme, when players were tired and disheartened by the boss after half an hour of unsuccessful fighting. They were like "Just do it unsynced with your FC" because they were done with the trial at that point and I couldn't blame them - 5-6 wipes where everybody was doing their best can be draining. I also had cases of "Don't play tank if you don't know how provoke works!" or "Yeah, F* you, i'm outta here" in some dungeons and really odd debacle with first FC I was involved into (FC stopped existing for no reason, although I've lost nothing really, except for some gil and I was mostly confused about it). Occasional troll or two would appear in chats and start just crapping on the game for no reason etc. etc. We all had this, I guess. People are people. Regarding combat I can only say - yeah, it does start really slow, compared to retail WOW and becomes WAY more complex afterwards - on levels 70+ rotations and constant usage of ogcd skills become something of "How you even expect me to pull these off reliably?" And I do understand that more positional combat in FF may put people off - and on some battles it's more noticeable than on the others, for example on Titan Extreme because how tiny arena is and how easy it is to fall off and die until the end of the encounter, tank is expected to stay on small line between Boss and the abyss. And move away from attacks that can throw him off the cliff, while still keeping boss facing away from the party. It can be hectic. It's a pity you cannot enjoy the combat in FF, and I feel it (I know a few games that people are fond of and I see that game is alright but I find gameplay just not fun to me personally). My best suggestion in this case - try different games, maybe different MMOs even. It's not just WOW or FF. There's a ton of games and players have fun with them as well. I've seen players who didn't liked FF and loved something like Guild Wars 2 or, Phantasy Star Online, or Elder Scrolls Online. I've played ESO and it's a competent game IMO - my friend hated it when she got it on the release, I had a blast playing it in the continental Morrowind area. In any case - there are better and worse MMO games you can play nowadays. And there's no need to focus on only two. At least, this is my personal opinion.

I can attest a bit to that with classic. In vanilla, I played to lvl 35, and played again years later on BC privates, always dps and never any other spec. When classic came out, I rolled a Warrior, and went DPS because its what I knew. I saw time and time, new tanks who never played classic, try their hand, or healers, and they performed poorly, and the most immediate response for so many players, was to get extremely toxic, call them trash because they had never played classic and didn't know how systems worked compared to retail and such. It's for that reason I never tried tanking until I got a fantastic guild who specifically ran me through some dungeons to learn how to tank in classic. In retail (last time I played was about 2 years ago) it was the same, leveling new characters with a friend who was trying the game out, she wanted to heal, and did adequately but still was learning, and boy she got so much flack from players who knew the game inside and out, and she put the game down then and there because of that. Obviously this applies to any multiplayer game, but WoW and LoL are the 2 games I've encountered it the worst, WoW especially due to how long it's been around.

I can just imagine the 'manly' haters in Asmon's chat muttering "F@#$ing FF weebs ... perverts!" and then turning back to WoW, and getting their beefcake Tauren with his dainty little fairy-butterfly wing mog (for the memes...) to mount their sparkly dragon/unicorn (coz it's for the lols...) and flying off to drop fairy sparkle-dust on the Drust. The whole thing reminds me of the publican from "Time Gentlemen, Please", shouting at himself "It's not right! It's not right! ... I was never confused! NEVER!" every time he's confronted with something that doesn't fit with archetypal gender stereotypes. I do get the feeling that a significant proportion of Asmon's stream followers ... may not be the best fit for a friendly FF :\

To be fair, lambasting FFXIV for "catboys/girls in lingerie" is an idiotic take when you have elves in Azeroth doing the same thing and giving out dances for gold. People like to criticize FF for the people who RP, but RP existed long before FFXIV was even a failure of a game.

I've only seen a handful of players dressing in "lingerie" and all were in Limsa. And I've never seen players doing rp stuff in public. Idk maybe it's a server thing? Twintania is pretty tame and so was Louisoix. I think people over exaggerate when they say how over-sexulized and "weebish" the game is. Wow is also full of perverts and creeps. People pretend like wow is as innocent as a new born babe. lol. I play a catboy but I'm aiming for a mature look so it kinda pisses me off when people reduce catboys to perverted anime boys... yeah i played shadowlands from the start and cleared hte raid i took a small break and didnt do the world quests that much and wtf happened with anduin and wtf is happening, their story telling is so awful and gated and i have no idea where it starts or ends. and I dont care. this expansion feels like a giant asspull.

The issue is in order to get the full scope of the current WoW storyline, you have to read outside material. I don't personally think that's the best way to go about it. FFXIV in example, spends maybe 3 patches wrapping up the current expansions story, and then transitions into the set up proper for the next expansion. I've never really been confused on whats going on in FF, but I'm always like "Huh" in WoW

Yeah and let's face it, we didn't need another Horde Bad, Alliance Good War. If they absolutely had to bring back the Faction War, they should have done like World War I, a tragedy that spiraled out of control and the villain of the story is the War itself and the horrors it creates and drives people to commit.

I remember the end of Wrath, I expected more from him later on, remember his red eyes in the helm of domination? All we knew of cataclysm for a while was the logo, the red logo, my guess was that he was gonna unleast the full might of the scourge ''Cataclysm'', the end of the world. And then with Legion,, the story hinted at Bolvar having plans for domination, the lore points to him being a new villain of sorts, but they abandoned that... Now we have a fialed story, written by a degenerate that has a hard on for sylvanas, look at the guys twitter, he wanks to sylvanas daily.

@@Brazoree Don't worry about him. I'm glad you're enjoying the game. They boosted the exp a lot for past expansions. You can just do the msq and blue quests and still finish ARR at level 60. Just work at your own pace and enjoy the world being built around you because it gets better from there.

Mind that you won't need to sub at all for half the game. Both the base game and it's first expansion, Heavensward, are both completely free to play with no content restrictions save for those needed to be unlocked by progressing through the story. This means not having to pay for things like Heavensward's 3 additional classes, though you still need to reach the Heavensward story to actually unlock and use them. Also, the base game is a bit iffy on it's story and the stuff leading up to the expansion can be a bit discouraging because of repitition but everything after that is pure gold. And since I keep talking story: Yes. Story is an integral part of the game. If you don't enjoy it, FFXIV might not be for you.

@@Jatjr it's a free trial on making a new account. you can't whisper people/ join a guild but u get to experience the awesome story of heavenward. best decision I made was watching a video on the story of a real reborn. then reading the story as it happened for heavenward and I actually cried at some points XD ARR (a realm reborn) is a bit tiresome so just skip all dialog/cutcenes and do the 20 hours grind to heavensward and start actually caring abt the story there.

@@Jatjr yep free trial up to level 60, some limited social features and a gil cap but you get to experience 100% of the important features of the game otherwise, i hope you have a great time playing!

Also an FF14 main, and to be honest, the moment you start trying to keep up with the Joneses you start losing consistency and mission creep sets in. Every game should be the very best game it can be, irrespective of what kind of sub/cash-shop numbers you get (to a point, since you gotta keep the lights on somehow). The thing that FF14 has benefited from is a design philosophy of being the best game it can be, while still peeking at what other games are doing that fall in with the mechanics of FF14.

Mark my words, the riot MMO will put the nail in the coffin for WoW, and that and FFXIV will be the two main competitors.

Question, since when do you play? I'd like to know if people who play FFXIV since release feel the same about the game. We can't forget that many WoW players play the game for a very, VERY long time comparatively, and are probably fed up with certain aspects of the game, just because they've done them over and over again (and surely, Blizzard hasn't done much to make that more enjoyable, but still). Obviously, switching to a game you've never played from a game that you've played for 15 years will offer a lot of new content and adventure, but will you feel the same after playing FFXIV for 15 years?

Not everyone knows that FFXIV have full Customization, they just see other people UI that they don't like and assume things.

​@@TheH1st0ry i'm exactly like that. i mainly do stuff solo and i don't interact with my guild that much. i haven't had any issue whatsoever in doing almost anything in the game. for dungeons, you have to join a queue and the game finds other people to do it with you. if you're a person that enjoys good stories, then it's even better. the game's story is amazing and rarely tells you to do group content like dungeons. and the best part is - you can level up to the latest content just by following the story. the game never makes you do anything. it's your choice which old content you want to approach or farm or experience.

Legion was really good. Great story, great pvp... BFA was supposed to continue the pvp hype but they blew it...I mean they did fire a crap ton of people right before the 1st patch... 🤔

He will be sad when he realizes that even with Master Loot you have a loot lock out on current raids. Current raid allow you infinite lockout, but you can only loot one item/token per boss per week, master loot or not.

Honestly though, FF14 could do fine even without master loot. You can get so much stuff with just those tokens (everyone gets tokens, it isn't rolled for). If you participate in end game content and clear it you will never walk away empty handed. Best way to do it though is to form a static group that clears together every week so that you can all share the loot properly. There are items that drop which will make loot progress faster on top of just straight equipment drops.

Not only that, FFXIV also have the "Unique" system, which means that you can't roll Need on the same loot over and over if you already got before, which is awesome.

I think hes saidthis before once or twice. He's also terrified about the FFXIV community. Which, as an FFXIV player myself, he has a point. The community in game is great but to outsiders they are very all or nothing. You either love our game and join us and never leave or if you say you dont like it, even one or two things about it, they generally swarm and attack. Given the raise to number 1 I would bet it will be even worse if he doesnt like it, or parts of it, because his game is number 2 now. lol

Exactly. The lack of lockouts on anything that isn't the most current content means I can spend my day farming a single raid for things I want, instead of not getting crap and having to wait a week to farm again.

@@jasonma4525 Aside from being on the newer engine (being more stable, better net code) it is the fundamentally the same game as it was in 2006 down to their patch cadence. It is peak WoW design unmatched in 17 years of the game's history.

It's ironic that a feature they so stubbornly refused for so long (you think you want it, but you don't) ends up being the lifeboat that keeps them afloat.

Shadowlands is way alt friendly. Have completed my warlock,hunter, death knight in getting to 60 and all geared over 200 ilvl. My druid is now 60 and I lvl 178. This expac is way alt friendly.

@@tbone8644 its significantly more. More time constraints for choreghast is significant. Depending on your class its either extremely fast or incredibly slow. This tine in BFA it was much better and easier to level. You could already skip the bullshit. You didn't know how to play in bfa if you think its easier rofl.

Considering the number of transmogs, mounts, pets, toys, character custom and class identity, not sure about that. "On the market" you have MMO with no "transmog" system, or MMO where your character gendra is bind to the class you're chosing. And in FFXIV some races have like 4 face choices and barely more of beards... But hey, you can have purple or green hair and have a girly haircut on your male dragon-man...

@@Bismuth00 character customizations and also gear, for a game using that type of graphics engine customization should be relatively easy. All other mmo’s that use a more realistic graphics engine put all kinds of customization in their games.

@@arthas_stormr8ge877 wow has most of their customization on transmogs. The engine doesn't handle character creation without massive updates. IE when they updated character models and added more facial, hair and skintone options.

Don't, not every WoW player is a casual whiner like Bellular is. He's making the game seem worse than it is, and his crappy propaganda is driving the players away for no reason. Yes, no content is a major issue; I don't mind tho. I started retail relatively late and have legacy stuff to catch up on. I don't mind paying 13 bucks a month to farm up mogs, reps and mounts. Not everything has to be end game related, and this comes from a 2k rio player. Shit he's saying is from a perspective of someone who complains about stuff he has not even done in the game.

I just started as well. I have to say it's very interesting.

I just hit level 30 in Ffxiv and so far am extremely disappointed in the combat. I'm going to keep goin with hopes the expansions improved the mechanics though. You can't give up on an MMO before the endgame.

@@rokthor7032 what job are you playing? turns out the first section of the game ARR isnt that amazing but i have a level80 Samurai and its fun as heck but my initial character was a Black mage, felt real tedious to play but as the jobs expand they do get fun. In terms of the areas, the expansion zones are cooler :) i do recommend sticking it out but i understand where you are coming from
