@@Motojourney I can dig it. I was hoping for as detailed a look at your kickstarting procedure. Both my Shovels have S&S E carbs, but one is really finicky with the throttle. The other starts no matter what. Both are 1982 FXB Sturgis models--- one original, one chopped. Every HD has its own personality, I guess.

@@davidsnow2420 Sturgis models! That's awesome. I feel like I'm always learning what mine likes, and every time I think I've got it dialed in the season changes and it's back to the drawing board. Right now it's just a few kicks on full choke, no throttle needed, and if it doesn't start right away then I give the throttle a couple twists and kick it a bunch with no choke.

you're very meticulous with the bike and i like the S&S carb. and everybody loves that sound but i think the idle is a bit too low.

@@stigandrmyrardalur5208 i like the idle a bit higher because too low i think would put unwanted stress on the wrist pin and connecting rod bearing like ka-chug kachug but it's your bike.

@@stigandrmyrardalur5208 i just don't think the hd vtwin was designed to operate at a really low rpm although it can and sounds cool. when i have mine that low it feels like it could create a flat spot on bearing surfaces. my 1980 flh does not have a tachometer only a speedometer so i set the idle with a screwdriver by ear and what sounds and feels correct to me .
