I know what you mean, her pitch is similar to Diana's and there are similarities, Diana's accent was very upper class, much more 'posh'. This lady sounds like she was from the home counties, Kent or Surrey maybe. To give you an idea, really posh people pronounce flower "flarr" . The more posh they are, the more 'clipped' their sound. Like almost talking with their mouth closed. Hope that makes a shred of sense :)

57 stitches to the inch. some madwoman made that thing 57 stitches to the inch. 25mm give or take to the inch, which means that she made stitches 0.5mm in size for every single little dot on that cloth. To put that into more real life terms, that’s about the size of two pixels

@@marthac5509 ASMR is not something I personally experience, but some people do. I've heard it compared to those head massage things that cause shivers along your spine. It's basically, certain sounds and voices cause that feeling for people. For many people it's ticking or crinkling sounds, so nails tapping on wood or glass, plastic or paper being squeezed etc. Some people prefer wet sounds, so splashes or pouring water etc. And often soft or whispered voices as well. :)

Holy relaxing batman. I'm an avid cross stitcher and when she said "I wouldn't dream of spitting on the thread" I felt exposed! Also, I'm crazy impressed she is able to cross stitch without a hoop or a light. I need a light under mine to see where the holes.

Can confirm it's excellent therapy! Have been working cross stitch since 1971 and it never gets old. Only a little way into this and the pieces shown are rather elementary which, of course, is where you start. Once you've got a few years practice (and increasingly complex patterns) under your belt you're ready for what I do: finished pieces on 16 count fabric that are 11" wide x 17" high with every square stitched. Hang one of these babies on the wall, step back a couple three paces and they look like paintings. My average working time is 18 months because this is my hobby, not my job.

Oh my gosh, I am so happy you put this on. I've cross-stitched for years, so I already know what she is saying, but she has the most soothing and calming voice. So if I listen while going to sleep, my brain wouldn't be trying to stay awake to hear what she is saying, and off I can drift.... With visions of cute cross-stitch patterns in my head. :) And, FWIW, I can't just sit and cross-stitch, but I have ADHD, and if I do cross-stitch in church, in classes, while listening to something else, it helps me listen, because the cross-stitch doesn't take much concentration. I only do it during those times, and while it may take a long time to finish a project, I've gotten quite a few projects done over time. It's kind of a meditative, be in the present, don't be so goal-focused, kind of thing. One time in church, I had a woman come up to me who turned out to be a doctor. She said she knits in medical meetings. Haha. For the same reason. So if you think x-stitch is boring, try doing it while you are doing something else. I'm told it lowers blood pressure. ;) In the meantime. Have fun drifting off to this ASMR loop!

I really wanted to know why I should use a gold-plated threader :(
@justkelly2
@justkelly2 3 жыл бұрын
Gold plated needles, not threaders :) The reason for it is that there’s less friction when passing it through the fabric, compared to steel needles. This allows you to stitch more quickly and makes certain stitches easier. Also, steel needles can get some corrosion from the oils in your skin. I’ve been working on the same project for almost two years, and my steel needles start to feel “sticky” after a while.

Apparently the Queen was given golden needles for a wedding gift and she was still using the same needles several years ago. I have no idea if she still stitches, but it’s a safe bet that she never lost those needles. I used the same needle for several years and yep I lost it, I was kinda sad, like the end of an era.
