I have never related to something more. I struggled with irritation towards my family my entire teenage years for all the same reasons. It’s hard to explain the feeling of being upset with yourself for how you’re acting while also feeling justified in it. You’re doing your best and you will get through this rough patch. Remember that you are loved❤️

Wanted to say I appreciate videos like this. I'm 22 and in a similar situation so it's nice to know I'm not alone. I don't live with my parent's currently which has caused them to miss me a lot. I have those same moments of wanting to relax or do my own thing but I know parents just want to be included in what's going on with you. I know it's hard to want to talk about everything going on in your life especially if you just got home and are trying to destress by relaxing but I know those moments with your parents won't always be there, so im finding thay taking the time to share your life with them is definitely the way to go.

Absolutely. Sometimes it’s hard to let go of the entitlement that I feel to my space and quiet, but the small things that frustrate me throughout the day shouldn’t be projected onto them for wanting to be involved. They’re doing their best one day at a time, so I should stop to smell the roses and just be present with them while they do. I totally appreciate this comment, thank you. 🧡

❤️❤️❤️It’s not selfish to need silence. The main thing is just to keep communication open with those around you, let them know how you feel. Ask for you time, and explain how important it is to your personal and future growth. All my positive vibes are with you.❤️❤️❤️

I absolutely think this is key to making sure my loved ones know why I might react in the way I do sometimes, and how we can ensure that the home isn’t a tense place, Otherwise, they’re left in the dark if I say nothing at all. Thank you for this, it is all a process! 🥹🧡

I have to say, I admire your emotional intelligence. The way you have such clarity on what it is that bothers you etc. also I admire the strength it takes to post something like this on the internet. Also, everyone’s struggles are valid. just bec someone is homeless, doesn’t mean that another persons struggle with college isn’t valid. Hope this makes sense

Really interesting topic, the conflict you're feeling over that dichotomy (Privilege v Disadvantage) I think is pretty common, many people will relate to it. You hit the nail on the head I think: you can have all these material things (car, phone, latte) and essential things (home, food) and relationships (family, friends) but the thing we probably need most in life is a purpose, a drive, the thing you're aiming towards. For some, that drive is to just survive, to find a place to sleep that night, or get something to eat that day, that week. Find your purpose and most things fall into place, I have about a decade on you... it fell into place for me when I found what I wanted to do and aimed obsessively towards that. Good luck to you, and please keep going with the ASMR 🙂

Ill be 35 this year, for a reference, just because they are your parents doesnt mean they automatically get to cross any boundaries you set or are entitled to your time any more than any other person, if you need time and space to decompress after the day they should be able to respect that as an adult and give you your space until youre ready to engage
@calciferASMR

This is something I’m sure some people would disagree with, but with my family dynamic, this is absolutely how we see it! We sort of have the norm of reading each others body language and knowing whether or not someone needs to decompress, so it can be frustrating when that doesn’t get across and emotions are high. One day at a time though. Thank you for your comment. 🧡

This honestly reminds me of how I used to be both as a teen & in my 20s. I didn’t really understand why I was like that until recently. (I’m 34 now). Be patient with yourself. Your emotions are valid & don’t beat yourself up for feeling them.

Absolutely! I’ve noticed how irritable and snippy I’ve been getting lately, it’s definitely a frustrating problem to confront. Early adult life is stressful as fuck, trying to keep your head above the water can feel insurmountable at times. I just try and remember to stay mindful. That I cannot change things that are out of my control. To treat others how I want to be treated. And that no matter what, the sun’s gonna come up tomorrow. Oh and most importantly, stay hydrated!

I just want to say that it’s definitely okay to feel the feelings that you’re experiencing. You’re 100% valid in feeling whatever you do and don’t let anyone tell you different. Burn out is a huge thing I feel in this world. We work so hard and do so much to achieve some amount of success, that we forget to enjoy the journey because we are hyper fixated on the destination. You’re not alone in feeling that way. It becomes too much and thus we lash out at those around us and become jaded. Or we aren’t capable with interacting with others because we are in our mind trying to make sense of it all. I want you to know that being vulnerable with us letting us in is admirable. It is therapeutic to speak what you internalize so don’t feel bad about that. The other thing is feeling sad and frustrated isn’t a competition. You feel what you feel and just because others may have it “worse” doesn’t make your experience less valid. It’s like everything you said I have been dealing with myself and I appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing. You’re not alone and don’t forget to take time to enjoy the little things that make you happy. Sorry for the long comment. Best wishes:)

You are allowing yourself to learn from your life, seeing things from different points of view. You have feelings. Others have feelings. You are appreciative. Sometimes you feel you are not. Self-reflection is the path to improvement, but not 24/7, as my mind seems to want to do. It sounds like you are being human - perfectly imperfect. Lack of proper sleep makes me feel edgier too. So does dealing with too much change at once. Things will get better, then there will be new challenges. Cycle of life. Take your pleasures where you can find them. Keeps you sane. And you're welcome for the unasked for advice. Just slips out of me. Well done in getting your internship. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

It’s very hard to understand until you have kids of your own. Your parents raise you. They do everything for you for years and years and when you’re young you laugh and cry with them only. They never lose that feeling on genuine love. When kids grow up they try and blaze their own path and often forget to their parents they are still their everything. Parents always understand it’s just hard for them not to be included in every detail of your life. A simple “hey mom I love you I just need some space today” goes a long way. Parents just want the genuine best for you and when they are gone it’s a void that will never be filled. Try and appreciate every moment because nothing lasts forever.

Not sure if you’ve lived on your own before but it seems like that is what you are looking for: space to just come home, decompress, and wind down from a long day without having to deal with anyone else. It wasn’t until I left home and struck out on my own that my relationship with my immediate family improved dramatically. Of course being on your own comes with its own set of challenges! But this is the journey of life that you hopefully look back on fondly later in your life. Best wishes from a random passerby!

This is me lol. I just can’t most times. I don’t know if it’s introversion. I just don’t have capacity for talking most times, especially if I’ve been out or if I’ve been working. It sucks, but I just want to isolate and need my own time. I’m like this more days than not. As a guy who is almost 30, it still looks like this. I think everyone’s path is different. I wouldn’t rush to wishing you were 30 necessarily because you might find it’s not as you expected. If I could go back to 20 and do things different, I would.

You can't put all that weight on your young shoulders, you can't blame yourself for other people's life choices or misfortunes. At your age you should be care free and just enjoying your youth. I saw the world so differently when I was in my teens and early 20's but I weren't a selfish person, I did help older neighbours with grass cutting etc but you don't need to make yourself upset x

When I was in teen years / early twenties ( I’m 32 now ) I use to feel this exact way. I use to come home from school work and my parents and my grandma who lived with me also would want to talk etc and I just wanted to relax and go in my room. Fast forward now I would give anything for those days . I lost my parents at 29 to covid they passed 4 days apart and of course my gram is passed too and I would give anything to talk to them again and have them ask me how my day was. All I can say is cherish those moments because one day you’ll want them to be around when they’re not. That maybe able to help you with your patience. Keep up the amazing work we appreciate your asmr so much ❤️

I know it is my parents first time here, even before I have lost them. That ship has long been sailed. That is exactly what I talk about in this video; how I DON’T want to be harsh with them. I am self aware enough to understand that much. But humans are humans, and we snap, and we bite, but we also forgive. It’s a learning process for all of us. :)

When I say that they ask what I’m doing, I refer to how they’re wondering what literal activity I’m doing at that moment, not an internal goal or future goal of ‘what I’m doing with myself’.
