I think Tyrion's hesitation to eat the potentially poisonous mushroom is to show that while Tyrion is contemplating doing it himself, he would never allow someone else to kill him. He would not tolerate another person to Rob him of that agency, even if he thinks it's what he wants.

I really like this analysis of Tyrion’s character I think it tracks perfectly. Based only on the context of the chapter it reads to me like it’s serves as a sort of existential crossroad for Tyrion where he has to consciously choose to continue living.

@@Glidus Oh, I had Fleischlaberl, which is kinda like an Austrian variation on burger patties/ meatballs, with mashed potatoes. It was a readymade microwave meal tho (the Chef Menü ones are very delicious)

I really like you guys, I don't have the means to ask this via superchat, but I would really like to know what both of you would like too see from GRRM in a hypothetical landscape of him having already finished and delivered ASOIAF fully (let's include his other Westeros stories that are also incomplete)... more WOIAF stuff? more Fire and Blood? Another thing entirely? Me particularly, I would love to see him come back to his sci-fi short stories. Maybe in the 1000 Worlds like Tuf 2, or Wo and Shade from Sandkings (they were supposed to come back on other stories), or even something unrelated but still having that great horror sci-fi feel he got so nicely
