I saw this movie opening night at midnight in highschool with my friend who also liked assassins creed. Honestly I remember having a great time, we spent the whole movie shrieking every time we saw a game compliant prop or weapon and naming out all the moves the assassins did that you could do in the game. I give it credit for branching out. Re-treading the same old story over and over gets old af and the lack of a modern timeline or characters to give a shit about just removes the whole point of the story in the first place. It was nice to see another ancestral lineage of assassins, it gets pretty unbelievable having every single notable assassin come from one family who all find the major plot devices and are spread throughout every major historical location related to the plot. It makes sense Abstergo would have other projects with other subjects from different lineages.

@Cactus Malone from what I can tell, by the end of AC1 Desmond figures out that abstergo are templars (also right in the beginning of the game is told that Desmond is no ordinary bartender, he was born as an assassin), and the assassins make a failed move to rescue Desmond from abstergo, however, Lucy breaks Desmond out, it's an interesting plot twist, that abstergo are the same guys you are fighting in the animus Edit: she just keeps Desmond alive in AC1, so she has time to break him out in AC2

Most of the scenes where played in Spain as well as Malta (where I am from) and this movie was my first time playing an extra, I was one of the thousands of Spanish soldiers charging into battle, they definitely cut out the scene we were in but here's a story about that We spent the entire day in a literal moat wearing woolen tunics, pants and leather boots, complete with a plastic helm and were told to grow out our hair and beard during one of the most brutally hot summer days in Malta (it's often hot and humid during August and September). We rolled and rerolled the same unused shot of us Spaniards charging and clashing into the enemy army and 19 year old me who wanted to give my all, charged Spartan style into a stuntman's shield. Didn't want to hurt him but dumbass me thought he'd parry it, didn't know we had to stop exactly in front of the 'enemy', all they told us was it was a fight. Anyways, I was shouted at for punting a rubber spear tip in someone's chest and told to move on back, obviously I still stayed up front because amongst hundreds of identical looking men, who could tell? Safe to say it was one of the best summer days of my life 😁

I replayed AC1 and Ezio's trilogy recently and it was a really fun ride. How I miss the og AC games being just about fighting sneaking assassination and climb historic buildings. And I still think Ezio's trilogy has the best storytelling and character development through all the AC games. The moment when ezio meets Desmond in Altair's chamber hits hard just like it did for me years ago. Really hoping the new game that's coming out will step down from the mythical lore and back to the historical theme.
@grimoireweiss5203

AC1 was ok as the first game but honestly gets boring fast. Now Ezio games are great because you not only have a improved game in every way but get a interesting story and protagonist. Black Flag was fun because of a big change in environment and gameplay. You still had that feeling of polished game. Like just traveling across the sea and hearing your crew sing. After that AC games went to shit. Only few years ago I finished Syndicate because epic games gave it for free. It was again a big change in environment that made it fun but story felt like a big meaningless journey for a artifact that isn't as powerful as apple of eden. They should have just traveled across key points in time. Now they go back and forth between different points in history. Adding weak rpg mechanics and huge maps with 9999 boring tasks shit out across them. I don't understand how people are not tired from same shit over and over. Just look how many AC games exist. I played 6 and naturally feel fatigue.

@@grimoireweiss5203 Collectables have always been tedious, have you ever tried collecting all the feathers or flags in AC 1 and the ezio trilogy? Also the final Florence Arc in AC 2 is easily more boring than anything in new AC. @@daxtonperry7208 its significantly more bearable when the map isnt the entirety of fucking greece. They pillaged and when they couldn't, they would trade.

@@daxtonperry7208 Collectibles have always existed in games. Your point? You see there were times when it was new. Vice City didn't have insanely interesting collectibles but it was ok because they were easily found collectibles. There are games that have good collectibles. Tell me my retard friend. How many AC games exist already? How many games exist that use same formula? I could name you few more examples of good collectibles but how about we use first Arkham Asylum game. You have many different collectibles. You have lore about Asylum, riddles that use Batman universe stuff and etc. These are examples of good collectibles. Metal Gear games have good collectibles too. Back in the day for example Assassin's Creed 2 collectibles were ok. You had a city and you searched for feathers or paintings. At least you got something after you found these feathers even if it was tedious. Even If I bough a weapon I won't use it still added value to my mansion that generated gold. Collectibles were not always tedious. Usually it was content for people who wanted more. What do we get now? Clear this outpost shit style stuff. Now they create huge maps and obvious obstacles to force you to buy exp boosts because they added unnecessary rpg mechanics. Do you realize that newer Assassin's Creed games like Valhalla are not really about assassins. You can just slap any other title. Anyway I don't know about what "historical lessons" you are talking about. You clearly have no idea what old gaming was and what modern gaming is. You will suck a wiener because you love Assassins Creed 24 when it clearly lost it's soul long time ago. I often find funny stuff when I click other peoples profiles but yours was just pure cringe. I even go so far to say that it's special kind of cringe. Proof that not anyone can be comedian.

When I saw this movie I really liked their take of the Animus. It irked me the wrong way that Desmond (who spent his days still plugged into a machine) knowing how to fight with just ...memories. if you don't force the muscle he could have gotten injured irl for it. The Arminus in this movie makes you use your muscles to have the warm up. You're training just body and mind into becoming that ancestor. I also loved that the past is all in Spanish. So they can be a part of the hype train or something. Elvis is a huge clout chaser. A former leafy clone that stabbed him in the back. So it makes sense why he would act like he's into AC. The first few things that came out of his mouth was cringe. It screamed try hard.

*9:05* Yeah, I can see why people say that. I read Assassin's Creed Blackflag's book form and it only focused on Edward Kenway's story and not the employee you play in the game. It keeps the story together a lot more and such even if some of the stuff in the present/future is interesting. I think a good AC game would just be to make a present day one, because the Assassins still exist as well. Not sure how they'd do it though.

This movie is very accurate. The past used to be 50% more green. You can remove a person's free will with a magic fushigi ball. And having weapons in a prison makes perfect sense, because how else is the hero supposed to break out from the prison in the third act?

The ring finger scene really doesn't make sense in the movie either cause the main character from the first game, Altair, abolished the need to remove your finger after he took over after the events of his game. The meaning of removing the finger was to allow use of the hidden blade but also so they wouldn't marry and swear a lifelong oath to the Brotherhood. So for it to be done on Aguila's right hand MANY years after Altair made all these changes to the order just... doesn't make sense????

I watched this in theaters and I thought it was ok. Probably the best videogame movie up to that point besides maybe Wreck-it-Ralph. My intrigue was that is was set in Spain which is one my ancestral homes and my dads home country. Seeing it and how it depicted the Inquisition and Reconquista is cool looking back, and having The Cathedral of Seville and Christopher Columbus’s tomb used is always a treat. I finally got to see them in person last year and it was special. The seeds of discovery can come from the most unlikely of sources.

These games have such a close connection to me since I used to watch my father play the games so much as a child and I absolutely loved the vibe of the games. One of the best things that happened so often was he would get so angry when he would miss the hey bails when he tried to jump into them from high places and would die or get hurt. Every time I could hear him go “Oh come on!!” Or “Ughhhhh” and it would always make me laugh. It’s a core memory in my mind.

It's definitely an interesting movie. Gotta say though, the drone score from Jed Kurzel, the director's brother is VERY good. Seeing as I really dig The Black Angels and they're actually my girlfriend's favourite band, that 'cheesy song' - called 'Entrance Song' in case you're interested - was the best part of the film for us. Especially as that scene took place in our year of birth. However, the track IS pretty wasted on this flick, I'll give you that. It only gave us cardboard characters and a bland plot we couldn't care less about. Early on, you introduce us to the main cast in this video. Assassin's Creed would make for great shows/movies, just not in the way the games are structured. The political structures during real world battles and events coinciding with the whole freedom vs Control theme would make for really interesting plots and characters. But that would mean less action and more worldbuilding first, which drives off customers, so I don't have high hopes for that ever happening. Heck even the games aren't allowed to fully explore these themes anymore.
