Tbh I would be excited for the game if it was made back in the era of the old games. Rn with the rpg elements, packs, weird parkour and emotionless robotic faces...I'm like...eh is it that good though? Ubi would have to really outdo themselves to honor the franchise at this point. The trailer was great, but so was the one for Valhalla and how it turned out...Idk, I just can't bring myself to trust Ubi anymore.

It seems like they're trying to combine the game play from mirage (the ninja) with the gameplay from Valhalla (Samurai) so you can choose which style you prefer. If you enjoyed mirage I think you'll be somewhat pleased with the game.

I hope that there won't be too much gameplay from Valhalla and Mirage. I found the gameplay in Odyssey and Origins better, especially the fights. I didn't like a lot of things in the last two titles. But that's my opinion.

@@jojocasimir1118 Yeah, I played it on the hardest difficulty and the only viable strategy for me was to parry and spam finishers cause they never flinch or stagger and just attack through your attacks. It was missing a lot of basic features from the other games too like transmog and the bird view was useless.

it will be interesting to find out if the gear/loot is more like odyssye or valhalla. In odyssey your inventory had about 50 gear items from just the first island, random drops. Where in Valhalla it was you wont find random gear but gear in spesific chests. Personally a middleground would be great. I loved odysseys gear system

Valhalla's absolutely sucked SO BAD, Because if you are like me, you find a new set which takes a lot of resources to upgrade to be usable. And some pieces are in the region you are in and others in a region you'll get to in 40 hours. I spend the first 80 hours in the raven armor because it was easier to upgrade that than do it all again for a gear set I had the helmet and pants for...

Those dialogue options kinda always went counter to the premise of these being recreations of past events from genetic memory anyway. The past isn't supposed to be malleable and you're diving into these scenes to find forgotten truths, not to make up fanfictions about your ancestors' lives.

@@natchu96 Ehhhh...no. Not really. Because by that same token, you can say THE SAME EXACT THING about the gameplay itself. The fact that you can choose to tackle any given situation whichever way you want. That EQUALLY runs counter to the premise. To get it truly correct the game would have to be fully NON-interactive. Basically a movie. The reason we need to get rid of dialogue trees has nothing to do with that. And everything to do with the fact that it interrupts the game and gives you a reason to constantly load and reload the game, which takes too damn long, fucks up the flow of the game really hard, and a lot of the dialogue options lead down the same path, so just wasting your time even MORE so.

I get the feeling Naoe was trained by Shao Jun or someone that knew Chinese Martial Arts at least. Since their technics are mostly focused on deflecting and directing the attacks to other directions like in Tai Chi, using the force of the attacker to harm him instead.

The deflect move for her is going to be something like the move on Sekiro when the player step on and make the trusting attacks going to the ground, is like redirect the attack that mechanic could be tricky and fun

@SpiderCharl They could easily have a dodge into attack direction to deflect the move with specific timing or even repurpose it. It would be that hard, especially for the janky combat system they have in this engine. Or they could have have it were you press the attack button at just before to deflect the opponents attack. The main point I'm trying to make is they could easily use their own system instead of it being just like Sekiro, but now that I'm explaining this there wouldn't be much too different other than animation and interaction.

Naue or whatever her name is should use a sort of ninjutsu or tae jutsu fighting style. While yasuke main focus is the weapons since ninjas are more specialized in body combat than samurai. I hope this game is so worth it.

Deflecting is the act of using the enemies momentum to "push away" their weapons from you or you moving away from them. Parrying, on the other hand is when you apply force to break the enemies stance. A very good example of this is Jin's perfect parry in GOT. 4:24 deflect sounds like with a kitanna like in sekiro, i think by no parry’s they mean that you won’t be able to stun enemies and will just get limited windows to block

I usually save the exotic outfits for a very end of the campaign. Makes it feel like it's something i worked for.

@@dazzaboy04 I tend to use the armor that is used in the cover art/marketing since they were designed with the character and setting in mind. I really disliked the upgraded armor sets in Valhalla which forced you to have gold in the sets which didn't fit at all for Eivor IMO.

You could argue: never pre-order a game period always better to wait for reviews. I did get the AC Shadows collector's edition already because I know no matter what I will put a ton of hours into the game and play all the DLCs etc. So easy get.

props to ubisoft to somehow divide the fanbase with the choice of main character set in most requested time period for AC series since 1st game. like how do the manage to F up such a easy winning formula. i still couldnt finish the vikings one and have no plan to play another AC game unless steam reviews saying overwhelmingly positive (if it even launches on steam)

It's not just this once, lol. In Valhalla they gave the main character a female name and then told you to choose gender yourself, while we know the most important legendary viking warriors were male. They keep pandering to the PC crowd, for no good reason. No one would be complaining if the story really demanded a black character. They could easily make another game set in ancient Africa. Let the East Asians have a main male character for once.

I'm sure you'll be able to use the red katana as yasake because you can see him in the trailer using a one-handed katana just like the red katana in this one which on the pack technically not this one but when he's burning the village you can see him do the same thing as Jin does in Ghost of shushima where he's holding a one handed katana and then shakes off the blood

Replaying Ghost of Tsushima now and I cannot wait for Ghost of Tsushima 2! AC Shadows looks interesting but most likely something I buy when it’s on sale 6 months to a year later for under $20 if the gameplay is solid. Ghost of Tsushima 2 will definitely be one I buy on day 1, full price.

Oh my god, will you people shut up about this already? Yes, there is a Japanese MC in the game. Naoe. And if you don't like her because she's a woman, well, that sounds like a YOU problem. Yasuke did exist and while he wasn't an actual Samurai he was a Retainer which are a type of warrior. If it really bugs you then don't buy the game and move on.

@@jckspacy Basically the same thing. Samurai was more of a noble, hereditary title, whereas a retainer could be anyone (like Yasuke). They played the same role, though. Fight in war if there was one, protect their liege lord, etc.
