Join me as I take a look at everything I learned about Assassin's Creed Valhalla while playing over 6 hours of the game. I dig deep into Assassin's Creed Valhalla gameplay, including combat, stealth, the settlement, character customization, exploration, and more.
#AssassinsCreedValhalla #Valhalla #AssassinsCreed
If you’ve kept your ear to the ground, you know there’s a lot of information out there about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. But after playing the game for 6 full hours, it became very clear very quickly, that there’s a lot in this game that we haven’t yet seen. And those are the things I focus on in this video. So if you’re hungry for some new information about the first Assassin’s Creed game in over 2 years, you’re in the right place. I want to thank Ubisoft for the opportunity, and with that out of the way, I hope you’ll join me as I dive deep into 19 new things I discovered while playing 6 hours of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
The world is more beautiful than we last saw
After seeing East Anglia, the flat and bland region we saw in the previous Valhalla demo, I was worried the game would lack the verticality and diversity that made Odyssey so fun to explore. But those fears are thankfully gone. Now, I still wasn’t as impressed with England as I was with Ancient Greece, but the region I was able to explore, called of Mercia, was filled with enough different landscapes to keep me interested. I encountered boulder laden foothills, colorful fields, and this vista, which was particularly spectacular. I also saw in the distance a range of snow capped mountains, and Ubisoft did confirm that these are a separate explorable biome. I also found many cliffsides and even buildings that were fun to climb and surpassed anything we saw in East Anglia in terms of height. Plus, there were plenty of underground locations as well.
Don’t expect any Valhalla to hold your hand
You might have heard that Valhalla expands on Exploration Mode from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which required you to find objectives by investigating clues instead of following waypoints. This is true, but what I learned during my time with Valhalla is that it takes Exploration Mode to the next level, and I love it. First off, some main objectives are revealed in the same way. In one example, I had to find a crypt, and my only clue was that it was located at the meeting of two rivers. So, I opened my map, found the rivers, and sailed on down. Now, some objectives are directly marked with waypoints, and if they look like this, things are pretty straightforward. But if the waypoint features a question mark, well, you might have to do some searching. Here, I arrived at the waypoint, only to find, well, nothing. After scratching my head, I took to the skies with my raven and found the person I was looking for was perched atop a nearby tower. Again, the game did not tell me this, and I found the quest more rewarding for it. Valhalla also has other ways of guiding you in the right direction, without giving things away outright. Here your raven’s vision reveals the general location of an objective, and when you get closer, the pulse of Odin's’ Sight will reveal your it’s location with even more precision. But even then, you might still have to figure out how to get to that glowing marker because it’s either behind a locked door, or underground. And this leads me to my next topic.

I like how they seemed to ditch the "get a better weapon after every battle" system like with Origins. I loved Origins but I felt that I kept getting gear after gear after gear after every fight and I was constantly sifting through my inventory to put on the newest thing. It made it feel boring to try and get new equipment because it happened every few minutes. It seems that they're getting rid of that and replacing it with a much more rewarding system, where you actually have to WORK to get better equipment, making it much more satisfying.

When I first started the game, I saw a sync point on the map, on the way I I saw a beautiful white stag next to a frozen waterfall, I went to take a closer look at it by jumping down, but when I entered it's territory, it attacked. Elk of Bloody Peaks, the name shimmered in gold above a large health bar. It attacked, I managed to kill it, but with barely a sliver of health. A fantastic journey, with a fantastic reward. Farther on, I did a mission of an old man that is sending his things to Asgard by throwing them off a cliff, after I threw his things, he said goodbye and jumped as well. One of the most surprising things I have ever seen in a game, along with the most amusing.

Great video focusing on the positives (no nit picking) it actually makes you want to buy the game! with the limited weaponry supply i see no problem, you don’t get overwhelmed by weapons abit like God of war, thats limited on weapons and its a beast! Thankyou

As someone who doesn't burn out by doing nothing but playing computer games, this looks like a lot of fun. I hope there is a minimal UI setting - for instance Far Cry without UI is much better than flashing icons and compass points everywhere!

Even in Odyssey the horses had stamina but it wasn't shown on a bar and yes horses can die just like in the previous games. In Origins and Odyssey your horse could be killed by a wild animal or human and it also dies from falling from a huge cliff. In Odyssey they added an anniversary Phobos skin with wings and you could jump from anywhere with it.

Hi! I have a question regarding combat, both in origins and odyssey there is an attack movement that is performed by quickly pressing light or heavy attack right after dodge. Do you know if it is also implemented in Valhalla? Nice video!
