I’m a clean freak as well, but I respect your decision, to not clean, or replace things with new parts like some people wish you would. Watching you put stuff together, cutting, welding, and stitching up panels professionally, is very entertaining and fun to watch.

This type of repair is very interesting. Where other repairers might change the cab, the fact that a good cab is not available locally, means that it makes better sense to repair this cab. Also not having to wait for the state to retag the cab means a great saving in time.

I agree, it’s an Emergency Brake. I have had to drive home more than once using it after brake lines have rusted out in the East Coast version of the Land of Rust and Corruption also known as the Peoples Republic of New York.
@larrybe2900

In the realm of history that was this mechanism's original intent. In the move away from mechanical brakes the new fluid style was not immediately refined to be fully trusted therefore the moniker "emergency brake". It seems the importance of it solidified its name to this day.

I have never smoked pot, but I imagine your videos have the same calming effect on me. I also like that you don't cut corners and disassembling the heat box to get the glass out gets 5 stars from me. Every country have their 'dumb' person that is made jokes of. In South Africa it is Van der Merwe. One day him and two of his buddies were driving through the desert when the truck breaks down. Before walking further, they decide to take something off truck to ease their journey. The one guy takes out the radiator, so he can drink the water when he gets thirsty. The other guy take out a seat so that he has something to sit on when they take a break. Van der Merwe take off a door, so that he can open the window when it gets too hot.

Nice plow truck. The last one I was given to use was a 89 K2500 held together with zipties, rivets, and peices of metal from damaged panels from the body shop. Exhaust was completely made of flexpipe. The only thing that he spent money on was fixing the rotten frame and even that was shoddy. It was just used on the dealer lot so it was only a few hundred yards from the shop.

Normally, I'm with you on all of of your repair builds. But, when you put that piece of raggety firewall insulation back in that truck, you hurt me. I felt like I could smell it through my computer screen, lol! I thought yes, put something there, anything, but that. Though having said that, I am always in awe of how you handle yourself around mechanical part removal and replacement. You make it look simple - you can really tell that you've done this for a long time and that you exude, know-how, professionalism and confidence. Nice job! 🙂

Exactly, body off and not even bothering to clean those parts, much less replace worn out parts that are easily accessed. So meticulous in some ways and then just slap it back together in others. That truck had to have an odor after 20 years of dirt and grime collecting in it.

Sorry to disappoint you but I don't watch for closure or to necessarily learn things... though I fully admit you have given me tips that I have profited from. I watch for the pleasure of hearing you bait the trolls and maybe throw in a few gnomes making cameos or perhaps even the (lately) ultra rare sightings of Mr Spotty. Even the pizza girl showing says whether or not I have to take a drink. I am jealous though because I never , ever have the opportunity to work on non salt belt vehicles. It's like watching Rainman Ray just unbolt a wheel bearing off a twelve year old vehicle and then he taps it and it falls on the floor.... it's like watching the impossible. I appreciate that.
