Time to upgrade my wood chipper. I bought a 15 hp Powerfist chipper from Prince Auto (SKU: 8893547). There are no assembly instructions, so this will be interesting!

Thank you for struggling so we can struggle a little less. Figured I would procrastinate assembling my chipper by having a wobbly and enjoying your video, I think they like to mix sizes 16 mm /17mm so that if you only have one set of wrenches you aren't SOL.

Hi, @unclereefer37. Glad you found a way to procrastinate that was productive. As one of my ex-employees once said: never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid indefinitely. Anyway, thanks for watching and for leaving a comment. As I tell everyone, do your first oil change at about 1.5 - 2 hours of use.

Thanks for the video. I found that the gussying, that is at the back end of the hitch, interfered with the stand operation. Otherwise it went together well 😊

Hi. I got mine yesterday with the exploded parts diagram and no install instructions. It looked like it was going to be a battle to figure out but thanks to a quick watch of your video it was a super easy install. Thank you for making this.

Hello. Many thanks for sharing with all of us. Very helpful and well explained. I think the tires are in the wrong way. The V mark in the tires must go in the motion direction. Thanks again. Looking forward to seeing more adventures with this nice wood chipper.

Hi, @peri4940. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Glad you found the video useful. I am never sure which way they should go. I know implement tires go one way and drive tires go the other, but which is which ... There are two more wood chipper videos coming out shortly. In one of them, I torture test it with 3 inch walnut branches. By the way, as I have told everyone else, do you first oil change at about 1.5 to 2 hours of run time. Mine was full of metal flake. Anyway, enjoy the chipper.

I have the Forrest West version. Identical, but your intake shute is hinged, mine is not. I think Ill modify it. Funny, your thoughts were exactly the same as mine all the way through. My worst problem has been trying to get the blade bolts undone. Three of them simply cant be undone. Have wrecked the bolt heads trying. Otherwise, machine performs well.

Hi, @tecsonics. I have done a video on flipping the blades. I had to heat them a little, and make a special tool, to get them out. Doesn't help you now that they are stripped, but maybe the trick of welding a nut onto the bolt heads might help? Anyway, thanks for watching and for leaving a comment!

I found this because of my frustration with trying to find a way to change the main drive belts. Drive belts will be a job that will have to be done, sooner or later, and I can't find any way to do this as there is no adjustment in the belt tightening whatsoever. Even Princess Auto 'Service' has no idea how to do this. Other than the belt replacement, you have provided a good ' how to' video here. BTW, I just bought my Chipper ( May 3/2023 ) and in the crate were 'standard width' trailer wheels ( not the wide floatation style you were lucky enough to be supplied with ) , 4-80 x 8,which (I can see, will vibrate themselves into the ground as the unit runs! Oh well!

Hi, Reg. You take of the belt cover to get at the belts, but you will strip out the cover bolts. Okay, maybe not strip them out; mine didn't come with treads. The engine slides forward and back to tension the belts. I will try to do a short for you later this week.

@@ByTheGraceOfGod316 Thank you, I`ll be watching for this one. In the mean time, I have bought one between a friend and me to use. We've had it in operation now for about 2 hours, and have chipped quite a load or branches, both evergreen bought and alder, no issues at all. We tried larger wood, and in our opinion, 3 inch or less is OK to use in this 420CC Chipper from Princess Auto. Ours seems to chip `green` branches and twigs much easier than old dried branches. We always start it up and shut it down under slow throttle position, to allow for proper warm up and cool down.

The tires aren't driven, so the direction probably doesn't matter.

I found it funny that it had no instructions. Maybe because they figured that men don't read instructions anyway. I laughed out loud when you had it balanced to put the tires on. Those tires look like they came off a moon buggy. Let me guess this machine came from a faraway land. But it does look heavy-duty. It sounds like you live by the 401? Great video on putting this together. Take care

Hi, Raimo. The manual says 100 mm, but the website says 5 inches. I would guess it is somewhere in between, depending on the species of wood. Thanks for watching and commenting!

How would rate the chipper now and would you buy it again?
@ByTheGraceOfGod316
@ByTheGraceOfGod316 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Mark. Sorry for the slow reply. I would rate it as a good buy, if you are a midsize land owner. It is too much for a city lot, but not rugged enough for a commercial unit. It doesn't have electric start, but it is easy enough to pull start. Maintenance isn't difficult. It isn't hard to un-jam, fortunately. The deflector shield leaves a lot to be desired if you are chipping into a trailer. I would note that the knife drum seems to be developing some wear marks. Do your first oil change within the first 2 hours. Even knowing all of that, I would buy it again.
