Pitties are Not bad breeds for children they're Wonderful but people cling to these prejudices that are simply not true-- just like old stereotypes like Germans are cold, or Bohemians are cheap, or females are irrational, or blondes are stupid. @@FlowerChyld43 True. I'm a certified dog trainer and even "reputable" sites engage in this. I don't think GSDs are the best breed for a first time owner, but I've worked with a complete idiot who claimed he "knew everything" about Bully Breeds. He knew NOTHING about dogs, IMHO. There are breed traits, but Pitties are not actually a breed per se, and one local rescue has a great pictorial chart where people are supposed to pick which one is, and no one can...they ALL are! There was a ten year study done by the National Canine Research Council on bites, and breed had nothing to do with it. There were ten common things that came into play, such as them being outside, rather than pet dogs, abused, the owner was absent when, an elderly/very young person entered the space...at least six or seven of these things were in place. I'd go on. If it bleeds it leads is why large dog bites make the news. Bad owners are why the dogs bite. It is extremely rare you get a dog born that is naturally so damaged it is violent from birth. Fight dogs have to be TRAINED to fight. Trust me, I've rescued and rehabbed them. People are vile.

@@CollynAlley Apparently you haven't done your research, Pitbulls and Rottweilers make up 77% of all fatal dog bites, despite making up only 6% of the U.S. dog population. Not saying that all Pitbulls are bad, obviously, but they are responsible for more fatal bites than any other breed of dog - it is a legitimate concern when you have small children.

The statistics doesn't say that the Pitts and Rotts are inherently bad dogs, but it says that they are inherently more dangerous if not trained in the right way, and because morons that don't train their dogs not only exist, but are the majority of dog owners, that's why only motivated and informed people should be granted the right to own those two "difficult" races.

A lot of rescues just wont adopt out to families with infants and small children anyway. The infants and small children are actually a pretty big threat to a successful adoption process, and some rescues will even tell you that the biggest issue they get dogs in for is problems with small children. Even if the dog breed is reputed to be great with families, this can happen.

@@TheBurrito171 Yeah When we were looking to adopt about 5 years ago, almost every dog (behaviour problems or not) specified they cant live in a house with children under 12. Some were even 16 if the dog was particularly big/untrained.

Some breeds are just naturally drawn to trying to kill cats, due to their high prey drive. They can still be great with people, though. Sorry that the one you knew was mean.

Most dogs will chase anything that runs, My dog lived with 3 cats, there was never a problem but outside is a different story, a dog has a natural instinct to chase anything that runs. not because it is mean. some animals are more territorial than others that includes dogs, my dog would chase any squirrel it saw.

Huskies have a high prey drive and are very active dogs. They can easily turn mean/aggressive when not trained properly. I grew up with a husky and we would take him for three walks a day, each minimum 45 minutes. We also had a massive yard he could run around in. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a husky but I0m glad this video changed your mind a little!

As a husky owner, my angel never chases cats. Actually, whenever she sees them she tries to play. She puts her little butt up and wiggles her tail hard, and when cats do grr in an aggressive way, she just goes away in a sad way.

My German Shepherd, when he was just a puppy, went exploring under a bush while I worked outside. Turns out there was a stray cat under there. He poked his nose in to investigate, the cat scratched his nose bloody and ever since, he hates cats. I wonder if things would have turned out differently if he met a friendly cat first.
