Lots of great new audiophile gear coming out all the time, for sure! The SP1000 and SP2000 I had were originally boring sounding, everything sounded "too balanced" and neutral, I'm guessing the SP2000T will be more fun sounding with a tube option with the ability to tweak.

If you want a good tube sound wait for the Cayin N8 ii. Even the Cayin N8 SS or Gold is a better tube sound.

How well can the SP2000T drive full sized headphones like my ZMF Verite? That's the important thing because IEMs are boring compared to the bigger drivers on headphones.

The SP2000T willy likely work very well with both the Vérité open and the Vérité closed. We just tried it with the Sennheiser HD800S (another 300 Ohm headphone) and reached a painfully loud volume level at 100 of 150. It is a very powerful DAP! To ensure you have enough power we would strongly recommend using one of the balanced connections (4.4mm Pentaconn or 2.5 TRRS). Power specs if interested: Output: 3.0 Vrms (SE, 3.5mm TRS) 6.0 Vrms (BAL, 2.5mm TRRS) SNR: 124 dB (SE), 125 dB (BAL) @ 1 kHz Let us know if you have any other questions!

Heads up. Listrn to Empire Ears new Ravens ot older models or Fatfreq Grand. Think you will then understand why IEM's are becoming preferred for Audiophiles. Only my opinion for what its worth. Very subjective hobby.

I am seriously thinking of obtaining the Sp2000t. Unfortunately I am somewhat of a klutz. Though I try to keep my Dap’s in my pants pocket, I sometimes forget and and it will fall out of my shirt pocket when I bend over to let the dog out of her crate for our walks. How fragile is the tube and am I in danger of destroying the tube if it falls to the ground after slipping out of my shirt pocket? Thanks and I anxiously await your answer!

The SP2000T's built in tube is protected very well where some small drops shouldn't cause any issues. It also comes with a case to help protect it! That said, we wouldn't recommend being too rough with it, as it can be damaged if it takes a very steep drop.

Hello does anynody who already had this device in hand knows if the LED light changes colour to red when turning volume up or down , like in all A&K DAPs? I mean, when you listen DSD (purple) and turn volume wheel up, it goes red, and than back again to purple. ? Have a nice day

I owned SE180 with SEM2. Is it more an upgrade or sidegrade to SP2000T ? I use Stellia and meze 99 classics. thanks.

We would consider it an upgrade since it uses the same op amp design as the SP2000 flagship and incorporates some really great customization options with the triple amp system.

@@moon-audio i would like to feel the bass with clean and airy high. At the moment i get this with SE180 SEM1, focal Stellia and black dragon cable. Does SP2000T have the same direction? Have you tested sp2kt with stellia? Good match?

@Rama Suharman The SP2000T has a warmer tonality. Honestly, sticking with the SE180 and getting the other SEM modules make more sense to us.

Is the new P2000T powerful enough to properly power any headphones?

The SP2000T is powerful enough to drive the vast majority of headphones on the market right now. The Hifiman Susvara, the original Hifiman HE-6, and the Abyss AB-1266 Phi TC might want more power than this can output. That said, most of those headphones work better with speaker amplifiers of which there are no portable versions available. Let us know if there is a particular headphone you are curious about!

The DCA AEON 2 Closed pairs nicely with the The SP2000T, especially if you use one of the balanced connections (4.4mm and 2.5). Since the AEON 2 is not that difficult to drive, all three of the Astell&Kern players in this video can work, but the SP2000T is a standout value especially if you like the tube amp sound!

@moon audio Pardon my ignorance, but what is the point of this product in a world of Spotify, Apple Music with spatial audio, etc. I'm interested in understanding where this fits and what it does that nothing else I've mentioned could. Thanks

This doesn't really compete with Spotify, Apple music, etc. it just enhances all of your audio while you use the services you enjoy! You can use Spotify and Apple Music on this DAP and have an even better experience than you would listening on your phone. Also, while those services are quite nice, there are high quality music streaming services such as Qobuz and Tidal which have higher quality versions of the songs you enjoy. With this DAP and Qobuz/Tidal you will have an incredible listening experience!

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple Music subscription and Sony XM3 Bluetooth headphones. When I walk out, I stream music over 3/4/5G and listen to it over Bluetooth. I listen heavy metal. How different could a dedicated music player like this one sound? Then again the MP3 is a format that cuts down audio information in order to compress a file. The end result is hardly noticeable lower quality than CD audio. That is why it wasn’t particularly loved by good old fashioned audiophiles. Do these music players use a different audio codec? Where from do you source the music files?

The great thing about those headphones is you can do wired or wireless. Thus if you go with a wired connection, when you can, the Astell & Kern DAPs for example will provide you with stellar sound. But if you are only going to use Bluetooth then it does not matter what device you use, as the DAC and amp in the Sony take over in terms of the sound quality and sound signature.

The best will always come down to your particular taste. If you have a genre you are more interested in, that would help us narrow things down a bit. Do you like to feel the bass or do you prefer more or a neutral source? What price range were you considering?

In short is you want the best Digital DAP it’s SP2000 in terms of faithful digital reproduction. But if your tastes is for a warmer tube sound go for the current Cayin N8 Gold. If you want to wait go for the Cayin N8 ii.

@@moon-audio I thought it was only Bluetooth? So you can download apps and stream music? The reason I am questioning this is typically when tubes are introduced into a dap WiFi signals cause distortion

@@ryanlukas5212 Yes you can download apps and stream music off the SP2000T. AK utilizes a unique design to float the tube to reduce noise and interference and it works pretty effectively.

Hi Marek, The SP2000T is not Roon Ready right now, but as with the SP2000, SP1000, SE180, etc., Roon Ready can be added via a firmware update later on. Astell&Kern has worked on making many of their DAPs Roon Ready, so it's a strong possibility that it will be added soon.
