She was 16 when the video was recorded. Their first album Ignition, was written by her. Blaze is the first track. That's talent

I believe this is Fukuoka, Japan and not NYC.

Hal-Ca is a huge Loudness and especially Akira Takasaki fan herself. It even was, after seeing them live for the first time, when she "wanted to play the guitar like Akira Takasaki". She must have been 10 years old around that time. I think I read somewhere she was trying drums at first, but after that concert her parents bought her a cheap guitar and the rest is history. Btw, I think this was recorded in Japan, not in New York City.

Interesting to see the reaction of an expert. HAL-CA had attended Yamaha Music School since childhood and learned to play the drums, but switched to guitar after seeing Loudness perform live. She sometimes wore her hair in an imitation of that guitarist. When the members of Asterism entered a Yamaha music contest, the judges brought them together because they lived close to each other. There they all hit it off that they all liked Ozzy Osbourne.

I always thought Blaze’s opening riff was a homage to Hit the Lights! Amazing band.💪🏻🤘🏻

Asterism was backing up Metalverse on the latest Foxfest. I think Metalverse sang some Asterism songs as well if I got the right information. Metalverse is a spinoff thing from BABYMETAL. I mean plating on the same stage as BABYMETAL,Polyphia, Electric Callboy and Bilmuri is a huge thing for this young ppl! What I like with Hal-Ca on guitar is that she can be blistering fast and just to switch to make the guitar sings a moment later!

Yes Haruki played Yamaha Pacifica for many years. HAL-CA is now an ESP artist, she plays her signature ESP Snapper Hal-Ca Custom

Its funny you mentioned Loudness because Haruka (Hal-Ca) decided to pick up guitar after watching a Loudness concert when she was 10, and by 13 she was writing some amazing sh*t! You can see a lot of Akira Takasaki's influence in her play in the way she picks and taps...Not gonna lie, Its a little weird watching Miyu play a bass without a fret board that's as wide as a cutting board LOL. As far as Loudness goes, they're obviously one of the major metal influences in their homeland. The song "Loudness" is pretty much a metal guitar anthem in Japan. I highly recommend watching their [40th Anniversary Live] stream from I think '21. It was a great show, Takasaki is just incredible! Actually the whole band is, Masayoshi is an extremely underrated bassist and Minoru is well over 60 and can still belt like he did in the 80's. That concert has the best version of "Metal Mad" I've heard and most importantly, the camera stays on Akira during the important parts (no panning to someone's feet during a solo🙄). Definitely a must watch, especially for a guitar lover. Here's a link to the 1st part, the show is split into 5 videos but the rest of the links are easy to find kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nMCTequfv7Kmnp8.htmlsi=R7h5u_5Uz5sNHkgp

This guitarist is very much Satriani in her landscape effects and phrasing. More Progressive than Metal but the elements are many and insanely impressive. How about that bassist though. He sweeps a 4- 8 string Bass like nobodies business.

Love your videos. Just wanted to let you know this guy named Vladimir Chupin posted some really high quality videos of Asterism's latest concert in France. You might be interested in that. As well, just found out that you're Canadian. Do you teach or school and if so what province/town? I picked up guitar last year after seeing the video of Asterism playing on the street and it inspired me to take lessons. There's something about their playing that triggered something in me. Never really realized how beautiful guitar can sound until that moment. I only discovered Marty Friedman after he interviewed Halca. Man his music is so beautiful.

@@lucisuzuki1467 Yes there are vids of them playing in NYC on their latest tour (and in California) but this is awhile ago in Fukuoka, their home town. It was a great show and these vids have great sound and good video.

This is from Japan. Other valid comparisons include Cream, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top. Hal-Ca not only has the chops, but the expressiveness of someone decades older. It's sort of scary.

I was thinking Haruka might want to spend some time in Nemophila. 🤔 I know she is loyal to Asterism, but she could get more exposure in Nemophila. ( Thanks again for the great playing examples in this video. )

Rush or Muse. There is another 3 piece that has been getting a lot of attention lately, The Warning (Hard Rock, 3 sisters from Mexico), who are about the same age as Asterism. Excellent control of the sonic space, but a very different feel than Asterism (The Warning are huge Muse fans, they do their own thing, but sometimes the Muse influence is strong). If you were interested a good starting point for The Warning is "Evolve" live at the MTV 2023 VMAs kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orZ8gJqrksfaZ5s.html And to tie this back to Canada, The Warning are one of the influences of a young band out of Kelowna BC, Freeze The Fall. Despite being 15-16 years old they are very good, they just put out their first album and have a few videos up. "Daughters of Witches" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8qXms2VlcrDk5s.html
