More than a month ago I managed to record some clips of this Aston Martin Valkyrie prototype vehicle (it should be VP8) during a development test at Mugello Circuit. The Valkyrie is Aston Martin's extreme road legal hypercar developed in conjunction with Red Bull Racing, Cosworth, Multimatic, Ricardo, Rimac Automobili and many others who partnered in order to built a track-oriented car entirely usable and enjoyable as a road car. It was conceived by Adrian Newey, Dr Andy Palmer, Christian Horner and Simon Spoule.
Apart from the very interesting technical solutions on the aerodynamic side and those on the mechanical one, I want to spend a couple of words on that marvel that is the engine. It's a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine designed, developed and produced by Cosworth specifically for the Aston Martin Valkyrie and called 'Cosworth RA'. The engine for the road-going Valkyrie (as the one in this video) is rated at 1,000 hp at 10,500 rpm, with a max torque figure of 740 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The red line is set at 11,100 rpm. Every aspect of the engine was designed for minimum weight, which sets new standards at just 206 kg.
The RA’s performance figures are boosted by a battery hybrid system developed by Integral Powertrain and Rimac. It contributes an additional 160 bhp of power making the Aston Martin Valkyrie to have a total of 1,160 hp.
I honestly don't know the reason of this test, now that the first examples are starting to get delivered to their respective owners. I also must admit I would have never thought of filming this car on this track and under the rain which, as usual, it allows us to appreciate the beautiful aerodynamic flows. Hope you like it!

@@AbcdEfgh-sq2tf to a degree.. but they never complain about a safety car going too fast, only too slow. As Leclerc said, “I wanted the safety car to go faster (for tyre temp), but I could already see he was sliding, so I didn’t want to put any pressure on him” (something similar)… yes they need to to be safe, but they sometimes need the options to go a little faster (for tyre temp in the rainy/cold conditions). They can obviously adjust the pace when they come to the area that the incident has occurred. Not to mention, I can’t see them actually using this, or the AMG One.. both cars are probably sold out before they were ever “available”… it’s more about marketing, sadly.
