Aston Martin Vantage V12 review and drive. A proper road test with a proper driver. Come and join Mark and Stu for a spirited early Spring drive in Australia's Blue Mountains. The Vantage is designed to be a competitor with the 911, so how does it stack up?

Its also 6.0Ltr to the Porsche's 3.8. I'm intrigued by the Vantages though. The noise they make is heavenly! I went 991.1 GTS after considering these.

How this review has only had 2150 views in 10 months is beyond me. Great video, well presented, shot and edited along with knowledgeable commentary. I bought a 2008 DB9 last year and although the DB9 has a different brief to the Vantage they do share the same engine and many of the other attributes you discussed. Astons from this era are drop dead gorgeous and hopefully destined to appreciate (as you hopefully correctly predict) due to their good looks and that fabulous V12. However, the driving experience is what these cars are about and at that they excell.

Thank you Mark. You're a lucky man living with such a lovely car. Regarding the low view count, just put that down to me not figuring out how the KZfaq algorithm works yet. Think of us as that intimate recently-opened restaurant hidden in a back alley in Paris, that only you and a select few friends know about. I do hope I can work this thing out and draw a few more viewers, but thank you for the compliment. Leaving a comment, as you did, helps us too! Thanks. Stu.

What a great review. Many thanks gents. If ever I consider selling my V12V, I’ll just watch this again! ( And Jeremy Clarkson’s Top Gear review of the same car. “Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful “)

Hello again - really enjoying your channel. I had a V12 Vantage for 5 years and so was really keen to hear what you thought of it. I really enjoyed it. The Sport button completely changes the character and the back is very keen to come out - in a controllable way. My main gripe was the suspension - which was too hard, unless you are driving in a spirited way. I ended up changing it for a 991.2 in order to get 2 back seats and be able to use it more often. After a year or so, I decided that was a bit dull and added a Ferrari 458 - which is very different to the Aston and probably more exciting. Of late, I have added a 348 to the garage in order to get back the fun of manual shifting. I do miss the Aston - I would love to drive it again, even if not to permanently own. I may of course regret that if prices go up like you say...

Hi Gavin. You’ve had and still have a very nice collection. Yes I’m a bit attached to the Aston as you could see from the review. It’s not all that fast and doesn’t handle all that well, but it has enormous character. And something I noticed when driving it around is the positive affect it has on people, lots of smiles, waves and thumbs up. Something that doesn’t happen with other cars, in fact it can be quite the opposite! Your 991:2 is a great car and I’m a huge fan of the 458, that’s a keeper. It is fun to get back to a proper gate shift manual, you’ll enjoy the 348, they are very involving. Thanks for watching, we have a GT3 :2 and a 458 Speciale coming up which I’m sure you’d be interested in.

@@markwilliamson8662 I am looking forward to both of those. Interested to hear your comments re the 991.2. My 991.2 is the C4S, so 414bhp as standard. But the performance always seemed a bit lacklustre and with a little bit of lag. I had a 993 for 14 years, so a long term fan of the 911, but I felt the stock 991.2 was a bit dissapointing. I upgraded the turbo to the GTS spec (slightly larger) and invested in a Litchfield ECU tune with replacement exhaust (not too loud), kept the Cats standard by replaced the manifold. It is supposed to be 550bhp and I can believe it - like a totally new car. Very eager to go from low down and the new manifold has seemed to take out the lag. Probably how the 991.2 should have been from stock. Keep the videos coming!

Great review! I was wondering if you guys know if these V12s are prone to problems? It seems like a very tight squeeze under the hood to fix and replace broken parts!

@@inCARnationAustralia Thanks guys. Looking at a Vanquish S to add to the fold but will wait for AMR Rapide to drop heavily before aiming for one of them. Both of these V12 married to that 8 speed ZF gearbox😊
