Thanks, I needed this instruction. I replaced the jack successfully. A bit peeved at Asus for the faulty (weak) jack in the first place - it failed out of warranty unfortunately, but alls well that ends well. Thanks, also, Shoalcreek5, for the tip about not needing to remove the hard drive. The desoldering of the old jack was the hardest part. Used lots of copper wick braid to get all the solder out and still had to do a bit of careful prying.

Thanks for this video. Had that bad screen flicker where the video cable or connector gets wonky. Used this as a guide for disassembly. Easy peasy with the right tools.

You need to carefully lift the tab up for the cable to come off. It can easily be broken so be careful.

I used plastic pin to remove keybords and other things near the mother board , and protect screen . Sure a handy guy can use metal tools but to be carfull enough better use something like a bic cap my best !

I repaired mine without having to replace the jack on the motherboard. The male pin inside the jack loosened up where it is staked to the plus terminal of the jack, causing intermittent contact. I fluxed and soldered the pin from the back side of the connector. The pin is not originally soldered, but is merely staked (riveted) to the terminal. I believe that this is the real problem, and that replacement of the jack is not normally necessary. A 30 second job to solder!

The first thing I tried was 2 use de-soldering braid between the iron and the component, get it hot, and add soldier 2 the braid. This seems counter productive but it seemed to be working for awhile, but it was not perfect. But out of frustration, I very carefully cut and ground that old jack away to just stubbs with a dremel and cut off wheel. De-soldering was easy after that. I DO NOT recommend this. With all my careful motherboard man handling, I think i may have caused electrostatic damage.

Thanks to you I was able to disassemble my netbook. I found the part online for $5.99 but I am concerned about how to put it ON after the old one is removed. Do you have a video on how to do that?

Excellent video, thank you! My laptop is dead, even w/ a charged battery. AC adapter's LED blinks (cyclically) when connected, but is steady blue when unplugged from laptop. Is this a symptom of bad DC jack? (and why the !@#$% did Asus use such a ridiculously undersized connector?)

i replaced the jack today on one asus eee 1005ha notebook, the charger gives 19v to motherboard, i checked it withmultimeter, but the notebook isnt turning on at all, with and without battery, i tripple checked if everything is connected correctly and all is fine, led of charging on notebook doesnt turn on too any ideas wtf is wrong?
